A Golden Hour were formed in the summer of 1998. The three members, Jason, Geoff and David, attended high school together. What stands out about A Golden Hour is the difficulty in pinpointing a specific genre. Some say “Alternative” or “Modern Rock”, but the musical influences surrounding the band are too varied for their own music to be so generalized as such. Geoff takes his influences from the guitar playing of Alex Lifeson (Rush), Brian May (Queen), and bands like the Beatles and Radiohead. David enjoys artists such as Bootsy Collins and Parliament Funkadelic, as well as bands like Radiohead, Jamiroquai, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Portishead. Jason is currently into hardcore and indie rock, listening to bands such as Zao, Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate and Roadside Monument. Some of his other favorites include Weezer, George Michael, the Backstreet Boys, Blur and, you guessed it, Radiohead. All three band members also love listening and playing jazz.
I stumbled upon you guys while looking for "Golden Hour" by Midlake. I thought I might as well give you guys a listen though and I really like what I hear. It reminds me a lot of The Methods.
The only thing I will say is that your music doesn't really sound like "A Golden Hour." It has a much different feel than that. Your name doesn't really evoke your music.
Really though, that's my only big complaint. It's a pretty good song and I look forward to more in the future from you guys.
