Absolve is an outfit who’s primary goal is to elicit emotion; it is heavy music with heartfelt sentiment. Vocalist Adam J. Morse, guitarist Matt Rantz, bassist Paul Gerrish, and drummer Heath Davis came together to form Absolve in late 2000. The quartet began to perform regularly around Boston's club area, and quickly began to receive attention from those in the Boston local scene. Their singular live performances brought them a rising fan base, not only locally in MA, but also throughout all of New England. In March 2001, the band entered the studio to record their debut disc, the five-song EP “The Anxiety of Influence” which, despite it’s small recording budget, received remarkable reviews and radio airplay. Absolve soon found themselves on Boston dates of national tours like Adema & the Vans Warped Tour and things kept getting better. The band, however, was not quite satisfied with the completeness of their sound and, in early 2002, added second guitarist Christopher Le who proved to be the missing piece of the puzzle. Their sound had been evolving since the band’s inception, but truly hit it’s stride when Christopher joined the group. With this line up firmly in place and a wealth of new songs soon under their belts, Absolve hit the studio once more to record their full length album “A Cure for Separation” which was released in October of 2002. This 10 song disc is truly a landmark for everyone in the band. It was a completely collaborative effort and every cent in the recording budget came from their own pockets. The CD perfectly mixes powerful melodies and hooks with high energy, aggressive music and bursts of raw aggression. It is a sound that draws the listener in with it’s sense of urgency and keeps them there with it’s truthfulness and depth of emotion. Expectations are definitely set high for the new release and there’s no doubt that it will meet and surpass those expectations. Open your heart and enjoy.
