What's in a name? When it comes to East Coast rockers AGE OF DAZE, it's open to interpretation. "It means whatever people want it to mean," states AOD vocalist/guitarist Tim Morrison. That answer provides more insight into this up and coming band's overall philosophy than it might appear. "Our main goal has always been to entertain people, plain and simple," he continues. "We're not pushing any agenda. We're just regular people, who love to make music." Following in the footsteps of the their influences, the great rock bands of the last 30 years, AGE OF DAZE is hedging its bets on memorable songs, and a killer live show. "We're in this for the long haul so, it would be pretty foolish to jump on the latest trend," adds bassist Matt McLaughlin. "Ultimately you're going to succeed or fail based on the quality of your tunes." In the fall of 2005, the band headed to Toronto to record its debut CD, with former Our Lady Peace guitarist Mike Turner. This effort was successful on several levels. Three of the six tracks earned slots in regular rotation on rock radio across the country, including Sirius Satellite. The single "Fuel" appeared as a BDS Future Top 50, reaching #61. Aside from the exposure gained, the band also learned valuable lessons about songwriting, performance and the music business in general. The months that followed the release of the debut, saw the band open for such notable acts as Collective Soul, Wide Mouth Mason and Juno-nominated Canadian rockers Hedley. Armed with a batch of new material, the band headed back to The Pocket Studios in June, to record their sophomore release. "We weighed other options for recording, but felt most comfortable with Mike," states guitarist Jamie Norrad. "He understands what we're all about, and we've developed a great relationship with him." The CD was mixed in Vancouver by Dean Maher, who's credits include Nickelback, Trapt, Rise Against and Hedley. The first single "Afflicted" is Top 100 on the Mediabase Active Rock Charts in the US, and is in regular rotation on Sirius Octane 20. The new CD "Hollywood Ending" was released in October.
