Alexis is used to being the center of attention. Although she isn’t signed yet, the hip-hop/ R&B sensation has been preparing for a career fro quite awhile. “I remember being 4 years old and I would try to get inside the television. That’s how much I wanted to be a star,” she excitedly recalls. But it’s hard for Alexis to believe that 16 years later, she would actually be on her way of taking the music industry by storm. Born in St. Louis and raised in Cincinnati, OH, Alexis has an extensive resume. At a young age she landed a role in a musical theater play “Ain’t Mis Behavin”. Later, Alexis became lead vocalist in various musical plays and various show choirs throughout Cincinnati and St. Louis area. She also is a classically trained vocalist, which led her to lead many junior operatic plays while in high school. “It was my mother who encouraged me to use my talents God has given me.” Soon after, Alexis would headline top organizations events such as the N.A.A.C.P., 100 Black Men etc. other than the regular headlines, which were major recording artist. But it was when Alexis realized and knew that she can become a recording artist by learning and meeting people in the music industry. “I’ve met a lot of entertainers, made a few relationships with some, and they give me advice and tell me what to look out for.” She takes their advice close to heart and uses them in her life as well as her musical career. “I remember when I met Aaliyah, and I sung a song for her, she told me to never give up your dreams and as long as you believe in yourself and your talent, you will make it.” After Aaliyah’s death, those words are what Alexis lives by every day. Alexis is not just another singer. She is an entertainer, incorporating choreographed dance into each performance. “ I grew up watching Janet Jackson and Tina Turner’s dancing, and after seeing them, I knew that was what I wanted to do.” And with Alexis, you get the total package: singing, dancing, and songwriting. “I almost require that I write with every song I do because I like to be involved in the creative process. And I know that I’m, liable for the lyrics I sing. I just love to write anyway,” she declares.
