Ambient Music Cartel, frequently refered to as AMC by those with too much to do to say the whole name, was formed in '98 by Luke Mullenix (bass), Jeff Morava (drums), and Aaron Newman (vocalist/guit) following the timely demise of their previous acts. Within a few weeks they had added another member on keys and were playing out to an enthusiastic audience. Their first (self-titled) album sold out first run production in under three weeks. Despite local support the band suffered a brief setback with the loss of their keyboardistin early 2000. Determined not to give up, AMC decided to go it as a three piece. Fortunately, within a month, Shawn Proffit Guitarist/keyboardist stepped in. "Most of the time when bands say that they have emerged from something, lose a member or something similar, and that they have emerged improved, I've always thought of it as hype. Well, for us it was actually true." -Luke. Since the addition of Shawn the band has recorded a new album, titled "Going Nowhere". This album was recorded at F5 Productions in Oklahoma and had the finishing touch put on it at Sterling Sound in NYC (same place that has done Dave Mathews, Cold Play, Macy Gray, etc.).
