Andrew writes with a passion for lyrical truth, connecting to the listener drives him forward. His musical journey started at a later stage in life, at the age of 24. This late start supercharged a voracious appetite to delve deeper into lyrics and composition through studying theory and writing.
Being influenced by everything from U2 to Bob Marley, Andrew has taken these inspirations and created music that speaks to the human condition and aims to provide a hopeful, positive message to the listener. Growing up as a minister's son, moving was a constant from a young age: this would provide the backbone for a life of evolvement and growth as he always had to accept new surroundings and people, while searching for his own identity. Andrew says, "From as early as 7 years old I knew I wanted to reach people and make a difference in the world, I just had to figure out how I was going to do that."
In 1998, after graduating high school and moving to attend Arizona State University, Andrew began studying acting and decided that this was his calling. It took 6 years for him to decide he had to leave the desert behind and go to a major market. After setting his eyes on New York City, Andrew arrived in the Big Apple in 2005 and began auditioning; a process which left him feeling a need to speak more of his voice rather than merely reciting other peoples words. Thus the music was born. Having written 100 or so songs already, the search was on for a producer since he had no musical training. After settling on a producer a demo was cut of Rap/Rock music that had an angry/political tone. The demo was done and the labels weren't biting, so Andrew moved to Washington State to teach himself music and continue writing in a more melodic fashion. Another 100 or so songs would be written between moves back to Arizona, San Diego and ultimately back to New York.
With a catalog of almost 300 songs Andrew continues to work full-time on his music project Songs For Oprah, which is a year-long, weekly song & music video creation campaign to make music that truly says something and raises a voice for personal growth, empowerment and tapping into the beautiful well of human potential to elevate our consciences and do more for our fellow beings.
