  • Te Deum is my favourite - magnificent piece [specially the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir/Tallinn Chamber Orchestra/Tönu Kaljuste version]
  • Brinn M
If I could have a simultaneous life, I would be a student, and/or a musician, singing, or playing his music. The first time I heard his music, I had tears in my eyes... it almost made my knees weak with such heavenly beauty.
  • Symphony No. 3 and Fur Alina are my favorite pieces of his.
  • I put the CD "Fur Alina" on a continuous loop in our post-partum room the first two days of my son's life outside the womb. It was a perfect expression of that miraculous time, so full of love and stillness.
  • i am not hanging out with anyone for months but i am not this guy even though im speaking in whimsical riddles.
  • If I could hang out with anyone for many days, it would be this guy. He always speaks in whimsical riddles. Very poetic, and innately artistic, a beautiful soul. I really haven't heard any music as beautiful as this.
  • Arvo (yes I can call him by his first name) was the guest composer for the New Music Festival in Winnipeg back in 94 or 95. I was singing with the U of M Singers at the time. During our dress performance of a concert we performed Magnificat and he was walking amongst us as we were singing. After we finished the song, he whispered in our conductor's ear, "this is the moment that this song was composed for". We were blown away.
  • Ok people, enough with the plebeian analysis of this man's spiritual expression. Nunc Dimittis more than "kicks the crap out of" some artist not too many people have heard of... Nunc Dimittis reminds us all of our final destiny - and may we pray that we can be worthy of the blessing that was Simeon's! A pox on "cultural sophistication" that is completely parasitic on the virtues of ancient faith.
