Baxter House started when three friends who lived at 1807 Baxter in Echo Park in a house together. The house caught on fire and was partially destroyed and the trio of Rachel Mintz (Vocals) Malik Williams (Guitar) and Sky Minor (Drums) took the opportunity to form a band around the experience. When they could not find a satisfactory bass player, they forged ahead without one for a White Stripes type instrumental arrangement. Baxter House Signed to Rebelution Records in 2006 then promptly left the label due to the stark realization that labels are not a good business move. Baxter House self-released their debut EP "Please Baxter Don't Hurt 'Em" that same year. That disc is available on cdbaby.com or www.baxter-house.com or on Itunes. The band played all around Southern California and became popular in LA's booming East Side music scene. Moving forward, Baxter House realized that they would sound more full with a bassist so they got two of the most versatile Los Angelenos they knew to share bass duties; Brett Hammer and Achilles Mezilis. The group toured the east coast playing memorable shows in New York and Miami before heading back to LA to record their album. After two years of production time, the band had recorded 19 tracks. They decided to release the material in the form of three EP's instead of one album. The first installment of these is called "Another Platinum Disc on the Wall". For Baxter House, keeping the fire is no problem.
