Beth Waters is a singer/songwriter/pianist from San Francisco, California. Waters is known for her strikingly clear voice, emotional performances and an ability to write a contagious hook. She has earned comparisons to Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and Fiona Apple. In response to her debut EP “Don’t Look Back”, MTV Online was quoted as saying, “come see her before other artists start being compared to her”. Waters will be releasing a new album April 1st on her label, Mermaid Mafia Records. The self-titled album is produced by Mike Winger (Divine Comedy, Tim Bluhm of The Mother Hips) and features drumming by Ben Mize of The Counting Crows and is mixed by Joel Jaffe, veteran mix engineer and co-owner of the legendary “Studio D” in Sausalito, California (Aretha Franklin, Bruce Hornsby, Huey Lewis and The News). The album will be supported by retail and radio promotion as well as touring. Waters released her first full-length album in the spring of 2000. “Over The Tide” sold 1000 copies, bringing her total album sales to 2300 without conventional distribution. Songs from “Over The Tide” have been downloaded over 250,000 times on MP3.com by listeners all over the world. Two of Waters songs reached the top ten on Garageband.com and she is featured artist on their latest compilation, “Best Of Independent Folk/Pop 2002.” Waters has performed live on San Francisco's KLLC morning radio show, "Sarah & Vinnie," when it was the #1 radio show in the country. Among other notable venues, Waters has performed at The Chronicle Pavilion (Concord, CA), The Sweetwater Saloon (Mill Valley, CA), Café Du Nord (San Francisco, CA) as well as special performances for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in San Francisco. Waters’ new release is a defining album for her as it brings together her unique songwriting style with embellishments ranging from jazz, to pop, to electronica. Waters is looking forward to promoting and touring to support her new album.
