After the decision was made to finish the mighty Gluecifer, Captain Poon wasted no time and formed his new band Bloodlights. In the summer of 2006 the line-up was completed, and the powerful four-piece consisting of Howie B. (guitar) Ron Elly (bass) Nico von Schäfer (drums), and Captain Poon (vocals and guitar) started working on their self titled debut album. The record (produced by Monster Magnets Phil Caivano, mixed by the one and only Mike Fraser) was released in late 2007, and proved to the world that Rock ‘n’ Roll is alive and kicking. The band played well over a hundred shows all over Europe in 2008, including some of the biggest European festivals. As well as a performing a good run of headlining club gigs in Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, France to name a few...Bloodlights were also invited to support great acts i.e.: Die Toten Hosen, Hellacopters, Monster Magnet and Millencolin.
Between all the touring activities, Bloodlights started working on the follow-up album. This time the record is produced by bandleader Captain Poon. Captain Poon says: "Through the last couple of years we've developed a lot as a band. Recording the second album we had a much more specific vision of what we wanted to sound like. The spirit and creativitity made it easy, and there was no need for someone from the outside world to tell us what to do this time."
Bloodlights is a no-bullshit rockband, which will once again come out loud and clear on the new record. The recipe is a solid one. Inspired by the likes of Thin Lizzy, Mötorhead and Ac/Dc, mixed with a sharp punk-rock edge, a little bit of power-pop and metal, you should have it all wrapped up. Or let's make it even easier and just call Rock'n'Roll.
