Bootz (b. Kyle Butz) is a folk/acoustic/hyphy singer/songwriter currently based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Bootz’s music is influenced by luminaries such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Beirut and Sufjan Stevens—those who take pride in collecting every creaky instrument they can find into one tiny room in order to create something full, vibrant, multi-faceted, odd and exciting, somehow finding a gentle compromise with melodicism.
A guitarist since he was but a wee lad, Bootz hasn’t seen an instrument that couldn’t be strummed or picked or stroked or blown—-hard. Really hard, and with gusto. He is currently completing jazz composition studies at Berklee College of Music where he has mastered the trombone, banjo and the melodica. He’s even dabbled in the djembe, sine wave, vibraphone and sawtooth (not in ‘Nam, of course).
