Hey everyone.
Hope you all are doing well. Happy April.
The past few weeks I have been gearing up for recording a new record. (yessssss!) I hope you are as excited as I am. I am working with a producer named Matt Wallace, and we are in the middle of pre production, rehearsing songs, working out arrangements. We are working in a rehearsal space in North Hollywood, and then we will be tracking at a studio in Van Nuys that has a really special vibe.
The past few months, I have been writing tons of songs. Thirty-five of them so far, and it feels like more are on the way. It has been a really hard process to pick which songs will go on the album, because I love them all for different reasons. Ultimately I want to show every side of my personality.
Here is one song that didn’t make the cut to be on the album, but I think it is really good and relevant to today’s presidential campaign climate, and I really want you to hear it. It is called “Miss Madrigal”. I recorded it solo at the Village Recorder, in LA. It is from the same session I did a couple months ago where I recorded “Made for Better Things”, and “Follow Your Heart”, the new bonus tracks on iTunes.
I will be writing you blogs occasionally to let you know how the recording process is going.
Love to all of you.
Brett
