bridges and powerlines trace their lineage to the summer of 2005 when
lead singer/keyboardist Andrew Wood and bass player Keith Sigel
discovered a common interest: creating power pop skewed by the angular
lens of New York rock.
Early press was enthusiastic, describing them as "dancey power-pop
sprinkled with Williamsburg rock; this might be the next band everyone
is talking about." [New York Press] The foursome's quirky yet catchy
pop songs have since drawn comparisons to thunderbirds are now!, and
the futureheads.
Venturing out in the winter of '06, the band has played a series of
well-received shows spanning the northeastern US and in late September
released their debut EP. Recorded at headgear studios in Williamsburg
(Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National) it has been described as "an
exhilirating racket" [sixeyes] , and "a taught five-song testament to
why they should be get added to your list of bands to watch." [IGN]
The record has since received widespread college radio airplay, and has drawn further critical acclaim. In April of 2007 the band began recording their debut full-length record with rising star producer Chris Zane (les savy fav, Asobi Seksu, The White Rabbits), with an anticipated release in early 2008.
