Bryson VanCleve is a soulful singer/songwriter who writes melodies and lyrics from his heart. If he likes it (what he hears in his head/soul), he writes it. He has no prethought meditations with his writings concerning "How to write a hit?" His main concern is to devote himself to the listeners and write lyrics that will cut to their soul/spirit while delivering them with the right vocal emotion. As listeners continue to comprehend the art behind each of his songs, he builds an underground following of dedicated fans. Although he's recorded several band projects, "Basics of Insanity" was his first solo release in December 2005, followed by his 2nd, "Halfway to Homeless" in December 2008. "BOI" was an album that broke studio rules by accomplishing a full band sound with the sole use of a MBox1, a 2004 Ibook and 2 mics. It's a very "anything goes" album that shows the diversity of VanCleve as a songwriter with influences from singer/songwriters of soul, acoustic folk rock, pop/rock, southern rock and other delta sounds. Everything on the album was recorded and played by VanCleve with the exception of the keys. In 2008, VanCleve released his second solo album, "Halfway to Homeless". "H2H" was written, produced, engineered and almost entirely recorded by Bryson. It focussed on the raw acoustic sound of indie singer/songwriters and included a variety of percussive instruments and backing vocals. The sound of "H2H" is even more diverse than "BOI" as the acoustic rock styles such as folk, blues and gospel shine through. Even trippy acoustic rock with kazoos, wurlitzer and accordion can be heard on the fan favorite song "Favor from Lucy". The title track, "Halfway to Homeless" says it all starting as a storytelling folk song, and ending larger than life in full gospel. Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Bryson now makes his home in Los Angeles, California. Bryson continues to live by his motto... "Love the music you play... Play the music you feel." Bryson currently tours full-time with singer/songwriter Jill Marie (myspace.com/jillmarie). The two indie artists perform live mixing acoustic guitars, electric guitars, piano, a little drums, and a lot of powerful vocals!!! BVC and Jill Marie also released an EP in early 2009. In 2007 Bryson formed a full band in Los Angeles called "Bryson VanCleve & The Show" with his multi-year drummer Brad Neal from Little Rock, AR, Al Aguilar on Bass from Manila, Philippines and Mike Sherry from Boston, MA on guitar. The band plays out in Los Angeles & Little Rock 3-4 times per year, but doesn't tour full-time. Bryson! You won't remember me, but I went to about hundred Wake the Dawn shows. You sent me a cd awhile back...thanks it was awesome! You are so talented and your songs are terrific...hope to hear more soon!
