Born in the sunny city of Los Angeles...Ernest Patrick Paiz aka Buddha Pie, found himself moving slowly Eastward during his lifetime. Having spent a few years in the desert capitol of Salt Lake City, he eventually found his way to Brooklyn, NY where he lived for more than half his lifetime.
On the streets and stage of NYC, Buddha Pie cried, laughed and danced. Performing in open mics in Brooklyn and the Lower East Side of Manhattan led to performances at noted venues in and around the city. Sidewalk Cafe, Desmonds, Williamsburg Publik House, Artland, C-Note, Club Matchless and The Charleston are only a few of the stages Buddha Pie played on. Repeated performances at these venues had his friends and fans singing to the rhythm of his original music, enjoying the whole night long.
After a 12 yr. "hiatus", an answer to a question led Mr. Paiz to pick up his guitar and write again. Singing to share the pains and joys of life as we travel through it. A life packed with strife, bitterness and pain served as inkwells for the armload of songs he now carries with him. Needing to be sung, needing to be heard.
Performing with former members of Six Iron and 3rd Man Out, the Brooklyn based BUDDHA PIE went through several phases of existence. Currently living in SALT LAKE CITY, the continued effort to write, record, and perform are non-stop. The stages of Sugarbeats, Mo's Grille, Sugarhous Arts Festival and the Gallivan Center's Lunch Bunch have rocked to the beat of his original songs. The Programmer's Pick of the Week on Tuesday's Breakfast Jam (KRCL), local radio airplay and a winner's slot in "Best of Murray City" songwriting contest have graced the pages of his portfolio...Kick back, smile and ENJOY THE MUSIC.
Current members of the newly formed BUDDHA PIE, now based in SLC, include Salt Lake City native Eric Williams on bass Fabio Barbosa carries the band through with his powerful beat on the drums. Newest member, Jennifer Klenk has broken a long standing tradition of Buddha Pie as a 3 man Power Trio. Her skills on the keyboards and keen music sensitivity helps round out the band's sound with a skillful and subtle ambient background that only compliments the sound of Buddha Pie.
The first album, NEAR THE EDGE, is solely produced and performed by Ernest Patrick Paiz. "CLOSER STILL", the second CD project will contain full band recordings.
