  • Hi and hello to all my girls and boys. Summer was fun and exciting between the walls of my new studio abode near the Santa Monica pier. Much love was put to tape, as I had the pleasure of collaborating with some awesome musicians and singers on their new forthcoming releases (Dashboard Confessional, Weezer, Cary Ann Hearst, NeverShoutNever, and a bunch more). Most importantly, I got to break in my new studio with my band of brothers (The Black Widows) for a new record!!!! We cut it mostly live in about a week. Mostly written as a collaborative effort, and really.... How should I say it in industry cliche.... SOLID. The record "I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart" will be coming out shortly in the new year. Of course, all good releases come packaged with a tour, so be excited about that! We will announce cities in the next weeks to come, and expect the tour to follow the release of the new record! Yay!!! But I don't think I can wait til the new year to play some songs, so I've got an idea.. Or proposition for you... What do u say about maybe me doing a little residency, every Wednesday, the whole month of November at The Hotel Cafe in LA? Sounds fun, right? As you know, the Hotel is very small, so it'll be very intimate and stripped down. Very fun as well! Here's the twist... I'm gonna play an entire record, each show, front to back, in chronological order (that's a different album each week), for the whole month.

*The first show will be "Letters"

*The next week will be "The Rise and Fall..."

*The 3rd show will be "Sycamore Meadows"

*And the last show will be.... Wait for it... A FANS CHOICE setlist! This will be chosen by your posts on Twitter - just post the song(s) you want to hear and add #butchwalkersetlist to your tweet. I'll be checking these and tweaking the setlist until the day before the show.

*Each of the 4 shows will also include a cover song of FANS CHOICE chosen on Twitter! Same game - post the cover(s) you want me to play and add #butchwalkercover to your tweet. I'll be checking for these all month too. Bonus: I'll play 1 new song from the upcoming record at each show.

Now this all means a few things... First, I love my fans. They are the best, most dedicated fans in the world. Second, you need to sign up for Twitter if you aren't already one of the 6gigabillion people on it, in order to vote. Third, if you don't live in LA.... Roadtrip baby!!!! I may never do this again, so you won't wanna miss it (and if it goes well, I may come do this in a couple of small places in some of my fave cities before the end of the year). Fourth, go get tickets now at Hotel Cafe before they're gone!

If that's not enough to make u fall out of your Laz-Y Boy, I'm also gonna have a cool contest on Twitter that will be a Name that guitar riff weekly video. The first person to reply with the correct answer will get something super cool!! Yay!! This is ridiculous. I've gotta go do a lap around the block to get my head from spinning off. I love you.

  • Arigato

I just want to say, "domo arigato" to anyone who bought my new record "Sycamore Meadows" that came out yesterday in Japan! I have always dreamed of having fans in Japan and being able to play there, so I guess my dreams have come true. Now, I would love to come over to your country and play for you this year, so don't forget about me! I will see you all very very soon!

  • good morning.

i only have a few days left of normalcy before i jump in a bus with a total of 12 road-hungry musicians and hit the dusty trail for the west coast. i hope you will join us at these shows i am doing! should be a real hoot. i never go to Austin or Dallas too often (or hell, even Denver for that matter). so make sure to come join me and the Merry Musical Melody Makers (and special friends Shovels and Rope, Ponderosa, and maybe a merch person or two) for a fantastic voyage to the left-side. we have a little fun intimate gig in store for our closest friends in Atlanta after our rehearsals. gonna be fun times had by all (that little shindig is long sold out. only about 50 tix were released. small little space).

but please plan on coming out to the other shows as we make our way across the USA, k?

can’ wait to see you all for a good time. i think we are gonna be doing Tiny Dancer on this run as well… reason enough to come!

And if you were the few who helped to sell out the advance presale tickets to the upcoming May Tour, then "Thank You Boy or Girl" for your kind support. But now we have all the rest of the tickets still on sale if you would like to go over here and buy them (if I am coming to your area)

  • This Just In!!

Miley Cyrus has officially killed Radiohead's career! Its over! Well... Maybe only their chances of selling records to stupid people and ever getting admitted into Disneyland. But damn that sucks, y'all!!! (Said in my best Britney inflection).

Whew... So much drama in the LBC (Lohan-Britney-Cyrus), that I'm glad I am not famous. Can you imagine what new heights (or lows) of vapid context is next? I can't (wait)...

How about a new list of tour dates? I think we can do this. Its not much, but its all I could get (although I think it'll make some Texans and Colorado-ans giddy). It'll be a fun little romp across the great US of Hey! And it'll get us sittin' pretty out in Cali to wrap it up in LA (not without taking down SF and OC first). OMFG! ROTFLMAOMFG! Ok.. I'll stop. Mornings are the best/worst!

5/20 - Stubb's BBQ / Austin, TX (Presale begins 4/17 UN: butch PW: walker)

5/21 - Pontiac Garage / Dallas, TX (Presale begins 4/17 UN: butch PW: walker)

5/24 - Bluebird Theater / Denver, CO (Presale begins 4/17 UN: butch PW: walker)

Me and the boys are pumped to come see you all. We sound better than I could imagine, and I imagine quite a bit sometimes. Like, imagine if my band name was called "Barack ObaMastoDon JohnSon Volt".

    I'm out like a trout.

    Twitter me or something?

  • spring vast thy self unto a dictionary covered in pee...

can i tell you something? i am sitting here in my house, listening to a copy of Exile On Main Street (by… yeah.. those guys), freshly worn and torn from the spring tour me and my boys just finished… and man. it feels good to just sit here. doing nothing. for 2 whole days.. i have to finish up a few studio things, record a new batch of BW songs, and get ready to do it all again in May. and i am thrilled at the fact that the last tour was so damn amazing. we had the biggest tour to date. ever. my attendances were bigger than any tour i have ever done, in spite of the economy. i cant even begin to explain the power of a fan. we had the most passionate shows i have had in YEARS. my band was my family. and we really played FOR each other, as opposed TO each other. it was amazing!!! i saw some amazing things on this tour. i realized that the band Anvil will be forever legalized. they are a true lesson in what it’s like to be lifers (insane… but lifers) when it comes to being in a band. GO SEE “THE STORY OF ANVIL”. it is hilarious, heartbreaking, bizzarro, inspiring, and nothing less than a human social experiment on what not to do.. and also what to do!! good night. see you on the west coast and abroad.

  • Dear blog...

Wow. Hell hath frozen over. “Here Comes The..” debuted at #1 on the singles chart last week. This is weird. I am gonna go throw up green beer now. I am sure people will come to their senses and realize that this is not that horrid Rascal Flatts song that is out called “Here Comes (Goodbye)”.... Yeah ... They did.... Anyhow... How nutty this world is sometimes. I haven’t even done a reality tv show or screwed a Kardashian on video. Things are lookin’ up for Spring.

  • So get this...

The first week of touring consisted of snow, rain, tornadoes, funny scandinavian-inherited accent, morning shows, playing next to fake kitchen sets, people with too much personality at 8am, my motorcycle getting crushed by our equipment, strange town with lounge singers set up on top of the actual restaurant bar, my lapsteel player singing with said lounge singer set up on top of the actual restaurant bar, Tiny Dancer, and the most amazing shows I've played to date.  Ahhh... Must have been the midwest! Now on to the East coast... Excited to say the least!

We also released a little EP last week that has the new single, the original laptop demo of the new single, and a couple of songs that I never meant for you to hear on it. I think its pretty cool, considering you could pay more for an apple (not the computer company, the actual fruit) at 1.99, so what the hell, bro? Go get it off of iTunes!

    See you at the shows.
