  Last night I revisited what, in my opinion, has to be one of the most beautiful alto solos of all time. Cannon's plaintive lamentations on "I Can't Get Started" from the Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderly CD are so exquisite as to make me stop whatever I'm doing and hang on every note that comes out of his horn. It does it to me every time I hear it. And, for the person who mentioned Joe, there's a brief but beautiful Zawinul solo. But the song belongs to Cannon. It's also on the CD "Ballads." W... More...   It's Joe Zawinul. Later made Weather Report with Wayne Shorter. Love their soloing.

  you're not alone...he is amazing. I first heard him in Machito's Kenya and I was blown away.
