Carpentron is the solo project of Chris Torgersen, a New York native and founding member of the Very Us Artists (www.veryusartists.com). Chris started writing music in earnest while attending college in the early 90s and eventually got a split degree in music and psychology. While at college, he and frequent collaborator John LaSala cowrote and directed music for a surreal musical theater piece. Since that time, he has worked primarily on smaller art rock projects, splitting his time between music, work, and family responsibilities. His most recent work has been for the Very Us Artists, mentioned above, a collaborative project involving an array of musicians, bands, and artists that is always seeking new members (hint hint to anyone interested). Carpentron's music is almost entirely electronic, with only vocals being recorded acoustically in most cases. However, the music draws its primary influences from such non-electronic sources as progressive and postmodern rock, filtered through modern technology.
