Cas Haley Bio Cas Haley - born Benjamin Haley Dec. 27, 1980 - grew up in Paris, Texas, a small town located more than 100 miles northeast of Dallas. As the son of two seasoned musicians, Haley got an early start when he began playing local nightclubs and bars at the age of 12. With this early start and very little formal training, Haley approached songwriting through his unique life experiences and innate ear for music, which proved fertile ground for writing memorable and original songs. For years, he continued to hone this sound while playing with friends, Brandon Morris (Drums) and Benjamin Drake (Bass), in Woodbelly, a Dallas-based three-piece reggae band that relentlessly toured and played small clubs and bars. And while they had the occasional brush with fame by sharing the stage with larger acts, such as Blues Traveler, Something Corporate, Burning Spear, etc., things just didn’t seem to catch on the way Cas had envisioned. But on March 14, 2006, everything changed for Haley and his wife, Cassy, with the birth of their son, Eben. This altered viewpoint on life fanned Cas’s internal fire and desire for success, which became apparent through his increased focus and determination. Within a year and a half of this life-altering event, Cas found himself with his first real opportunity to display his talents for the whole world to see. It was at this time, the Texas native took his distinctive reggae-infused sound center stage in front of a national audience, when he auditioned for NBC’s second season of the summertime hit series, “America’s Got Talent”. With his performance of the Police’s “Walking on the Moon”, Cas went from unknown to the forefront of America’s consciousness. Cas continues to demonstrate his once-in-a-generation talents with the release of the international debut self-titled album, which was released Feb. 14, 2008.
