Forwarding the melodic sound and powerpop of bands such as Superchunk and Big Star, a Certain Stars hook can take up space in your head for days. The band believes in writing good songs and playing them well. That conviction landed songs from their first CD "Times Like These Call for Tambourines" on VirginDigital's "So Indie It Hurts" webcasts, alongside industry favorites like Pavement and Liz Phair. A buzz was generated across the big pond as well as they received the attention of Germany's Alooga Media Radio. After over 15 years of classical music training, bassist and vocalist Kyle Hernandez grew restless and enlisted the help of his brother Chris (Fiercely Me) to flesh out some of his rock songs. As the band "Cudahy" they released the quirky pop gem "Millenia EP". Becoming Certain Stars in 2003, the band tightened its songcraft and enlisted Milwaukee band veterans Chris Voss (formerly First Third) and Greg Hein (formerly Powerwagon). All members now add to the singing and songwriting pool, making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. A Certain Stars live show reveals a seasoned band playing with conviction, heart and energy. The band continues to write good songs and play them well.
