  Saw CW at least half a dozen times. Every single time was awe inspiring. Went to one concert while pregnant and babies first song was Big Sky Country :-)

  i could kick myself in my ****...hotel vast horizon is probably one of the best records ever made...was recorded in my hometown dresden in germany...but i just "found" chris' music around 2006...he lived literally just around the corner and was playin some venues i know...it's such a shame i couldn't manage to seem him at least once live...nevertheless, his music is unbelievable...by the way, the "dislocation blues" lp with jeff lang is nuts...spent the last year in australia and was always o...   "Living With the Law" is on my top 5 list of all time favorite albums. Never heard anything else quite like it.

  First time I ever heard Chris was on Much Music up In Canada sometime around the late 80's During His DIN OF ECSTACY days... POISON GIRL was the video that was playing at the time and I was blown away by the rest of his music when I went out and bought the album. Bought every release til his death.... Still Looking for REITER ... Cant find it anywhere. My WHOLE LIFE I've met ONE person in real life that ever heard of Chris Whitley. I was at a party, Played GUNS AND DOLLS by myself with a bo... Kevin spoke up and yelled HEY THATS CHRIS WHITLEY!!!, We've been buddies ever since. He and I got so drunk when we found out Chris died, cried, laughed and smoked a lotta pot that night. Miss ya Chris, Hope Trixie and the gang can make it up here for a show sometime. A fan is born everyday. Wish I couldve seen CW live.... what a huge loss. RIP Everything I love with goes out to his family. peace.

  Chris Whitley was the first musician I ever saw play live. He opened for Tom Petty on the Into the Great Wide Open tour, September '91. He would have been touring in support of Living with the Law. "Big Sky Country" was the song I remembered. I bought his record on the strength of that performance and have followed him ever since. His death was a huge, huge loss. I hope his family or friends reads this thing or any of the other sites and realizes that even though he may not have been a huge c... More...
