"Winter Music Conference celebrates it's 25th year as one of the most anticipated and publicized global gatherings for pioneering artists, innovators and professionals at the bold new Eden Roc Beach Resort & Spa on Miami Beach, March 23 ˆ 27, 2010.
Long regarded as an essential proving ground for new releases, artists and technological advances, WMC 2009 attracted over 70,000 event attendees, 503 accredited journalists and 3,228 industry delegates from 62 countries who participated in 52 industry panels, seminars and workshops as well as 1,910 artists and DJs who performed at a total of 506 events presented at 127 venues across 6 days in Miami Beach and Miami.
WMC's 25th anniversary industry program will convene at the Eden Roc resort which has just undergone a multi-year $200 million renovation. The rooms are some of the nicest I've seen on the beach." Special Convention Rates start at $219 per night.
Highlights of the 2010 program will include the IDMAs (International Dance Music Awards), also in its 25th consecutive year, where the music business converges to honor exceptional achievements of industry, artists and innovators in more than 50 categories. The IDMAs is one of the only longstanding industry events of its stature where the fans decide ˆ generating over a million votes from music fans in 183 countries last year. The online ballot will be posted in November.
WMC will also present the 3rd edition of South Beach Sessions, a bold new perspective on the traditional WMC panel program. Founded on the principles that make music compelling ˆ individual expression, empowerment, creative thinking and collaboration ˆ the program's mission is to create greater exposure for artists and ideas. Pioneers in music, art, fashion, technology, business, education, the environment participate in one of the most inspiring and epic programs of the week. SBS has featured some of the industry's most pioneering champions of positive change from Richie Hawtin to Public Enemy's Chuck D and Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am.
WMC 2010 will host the 4th edition of the Record Collector's Show - an international hub for buyers, sellers and traders of rare and collectible vinyl, tapes, and music memorabilia which assembles the best record dealers and features some of the rarest music in the world.
The WMC badge also includes entry to the 12th Annual Ultra Music Festival, the largest event of its kind in the US.
Currently the WMC industry badge is being offered at a promotional Early Registration rate of $235 until November 11th, which includes access to all official WMC events across the conference dates. Marketing opportunities are currently discounted by 40% through December 18, 2009.

Psychoholic (aka M.Pravda) is a project founded in Toronto Canada in 2004. Currently based in Moscow, Russia, Psycoholic became highly respected as producer and DJ through his unique style, determination and unforgettable live performance. He always trying to experiment with the sound and collaborate various styles of music in his production.
In his carrier regularly played alongside heavy hitters or headlined his own gigs all over the world: from Canada to Brazil, Russia and Europe. Guest of famous festivals such as: World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF) in Canada, "Kazantip" in Ukraine, "Kokum Koya" in Brazil and many others.
After his debut album "Trance World Order" released on Psy Spy Records in 2008, Psycoholic is known as one of the best year's producers in his genre, among clubbers and professionals.
At the moment Psycoholic is busy working on a new album "Parallel Universe" which will be released November 2009.

This month also features a guest mix by Kamil Kwiatkowski (AKA Carlos Calabro), whom Christopher recently played with at Poland's massive Electocity festival. Christopher was so impressed with Carlos that he immediately invited him to be a guest on Rush Hour.
Carlos Calabro was born in 1986 in southern Poland. When you ask his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends and ex girlfriends a question “was there any indication Kamil would take up music?”, everyone will give you the same answer: “Nothing at all!”.
A producer?
In 2006, Carlo behan producing after accidentally discovering trance. With only six months experience under his belt, he was featured on Fektive Records, doing two remixes for Marcus Schossow and Glenn Morrison. In 2008, asingle „Heart of Stone” recorded with Tiff Lacey came to light. Apart from that: remixes, remixes, remixes... Not for any old guys though. Filo & Peri, Mr. Pit, Mac Zimms. Solid Sessions. During the same period, Carlo Calabro's releases landed twice on Beatport's Top10 chart. Year 2009 is devoted mainly to work on Carlo's own material. although he found time to remix Sied Van Riel („Darklight”), Leon Bolier („Selffullfilling Prophecy”)..
A DJ?
Yes, of course! Carlo was invited by Tiesto himself to “Club Life”. However, “15 Minutes of Fame” is still ahead! From March 2007 Carlo hosts a monthly “Pushing the Bar” in the most popular Internet radio - Digitally Imported (www.di.fmon each first Friday of a month. And if you would like to see Carlo playing in a club or during some huge event (he took part in Colors Of Sounds and Electrocity 4 among others), just have a look on his schedule!

CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE LAUNCHES NEW DJ SIDE PROJECT - MR & MRS SMITH!
Famous for his tough trance sound, Christopher Lawrence joins forces with his wife Sara for a new DJ side project 'Mr & Mrs Smith'.The pair, who have worked together behind the scenes for fifteen years are bringing their joint efforts into the public eye with this new DJ duo, which debuts at this years Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert.
Christopher laughs "I've been noticing there's a lot of DJs working in pairs lately. I've often thought it would be nice to have a wingman up there, although in this case, it's actually a wingwoman. I don't know of any other mixed sex DJ duos, let alone any husband and wife teams, so I think we're definitely breaking some new ground here".
Christopher continues "Mr & Mrs Smith' is an opportunity for me to play music that I couldn't normally incorporate into my main room trance sets. There is a right place and a right time for any type of music and the sound we've been working on is perfect for afterhours, industry events like WMC, or side stages at festivals, away from the chaos of the main stage, where true music lovers can get their groove on. This is a sound which is influenced by the many hours we've spent partying at afterhours and in backrooms over the years."
"I should say to anyone expecting to hear trance from Mr & Mrs Smith that they should stay home" he laughs.
So what exactly is this style of music? Sara says "There are three criteria. The tracks need to be tough and sexy, with a groove. Electro House, Progressive, Techno - we don't care what the genre is".
"Mrs Smith" (AKA Sara Finlayson) has a career in dance music spanning decades. A regular at Melbourne's gay clubs in the eighties ("the only places you could hear good dance music in Australia"), she worked in the nightclub industry, before moving to London in the early nineties, where she worked in Tower Records dance department. She was active in the early London rave scene of 1990-1992, before moving to Los Angeles, where she met "Mr Smith" (AKA Christopher Lawrence, a struggling bedroom DJ) and they were married shortly after. Continuing her career in dance music, Sara worked for several years for German techno star Sven Vath at the LA office of his labels Eye Q Music / Harthouse before becoming the Los Angeles editor of respected US electronic music mag XLR8R. During this time, Sara also produced music with Moonshine Music producer Dave Aude under the moniker Mile High. It was also in the late nineties that Sara formed Monster Media, a PR and management company specializing in dance music, under which she managed the careers of artists including husband Christopher Lawrence, a position she continues to this day. A familiar face backstage in the dance music industry, Sara brings her tough attitude out of the shadows and into the DJ booth with 'Mr + Mrs Smith'.
"Mr Smith" (AKA Christopher Lawrence) needs no introduction. One of the World's leading dance music talents, Christopher has received numerous awards and accolades. Winner of "America's Best DJ" (DJ Times 2008), “Best American DJ” at the IDMA’s, Christopher is also a recent recipient of the "Best DJ" at both the Dancestar US Awards and Los Angeles Music Awards. He has additionally been nominated in Dancestar UK Awards, DJ Awards, International Trance Awards, Global DJ Mix Awards and IDMA’s to name a few. DJ Mag has opened their annual poll. It's the DJ silly season, when you can expect to receive a deluge of emails begging you to vote.
I have mixed feelings about this poll, but ultimately I do think it is important for all clubbers to make their voices heard. I think all styles of music should be represented, not just commercial styles.
For this reason, I would appreciate your vote if you have enjoyed my live sets, radio show or productions over the past year. I also hope that you will use your voice to support other artists who represent a more underground style.
