    CocoRosie featured in The New York Times Magazine, 7" released tomorrow

    We’re pretty psyched because yesterday, July 6, The New York Times Magazine featured an exceptional, in-depth article about CocoRosie. It's an extensive piece that details the history of Bianca and Sierra Casady, including their enigmatic, eccentric musical and familial lineage. CLICK HERE to read.

    Also, a quick reminder: the physical release of CocoRosie’s "God Has a Voice, She Speaks Through Me" limited-edition 7" picture disc is tomorrow, July 8. You can get your hands on a copy by ordering it directly from your favorite online retailer.

    Upcoming CocoRosie events

    On Saturday, June 7 at 8 PM Sierra Casady and pianist/violinist/cellist Gael Rakotondrabe – in collaboration with French artist Loris Gréaud – will put on an exclusive musical interpretation of the French opera “Cellar Door” libretto. The performance will be held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), The Mall in London, UK. You can find out more information right here.

    Beginning the week after, Bianca Casady will have her art exhibition shown at the Wall House #2 in Groningen, Netherlands. The display will open with a special performance/BBQ/tea party on Thursday, June 12 from 8 – 11 PM. [Side note: unique art + earl grey + bratwurst w/ mustard, no ‘kraut = good times.] Following the opening event, the exhibition will run from June 14 until August 3, viewable on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM until 6 PM. Also, in conjunction with the art showing, Foundation Wall House #2 will be publishing Bianca’s book, Le Combat Spirituel. For additional information on the Wall House and its events, go to the website.

    Coming to us at what feels like a breaking point in humanity, God Has A Voice, She Speaks Through Me intends to act as a hopeful light and a reminder of simple joys. With a springtime dance-floor sound, CocoRosie narrates a suicide story that takes place in a tender and elated moment of innocence, focusing on releasing and returning to Mother Nature.

    CocoRosie's fascination with combining things that clash continues to drive their process in both song and production. Their current creative environments range from hi-fi studios to simple field recordings (i.e. dolphin and whale sounds). Some inspirations to their hearts at the moment are Cher, Beethoven and finding true love's kiss.

    Bianca and Sierra are currently working on the follow up to their last full-length, The Adventures Of Ghosthorse & Stillborn, slated for release in 2009. This new work will continue in the vein of God Has A Voice…, exploring spiritual dance music, driven by oceanic and apocalyptic themes.

    Until then, the girls will continue their endless summer journey, one that has taken them to beach side studios around the world, where folk musicians from Madagascar and Reunion Island gathered to lend their hands in creating the future lives of CocoRosie.
