  • New Year's Eve gig: Kick Out the Jams

Combine the Victorious is performing our electronic set this new year's eve/ change of decade at the Anza Club here in Vancouver.  We join Rat Silo, Northern Leadership, and Blind God for a full evening of music.

  • Fun Life

we're writing our next album, and while a great many ideas have been rather dark and ambient, this song came out last week.  it is neither dark nor ambient.  a bit reggea perhaps. this is our first draught demo, it's fun.

  • Electronic Duo

Hey, it's been quite some time since we posted anything on this site, sorry about that.

Our latest news is that we have taken a hiatus from the full live band in order to scale things back to a band we can actually tour with: the two of us!  Isabelle's been learning the keyboards lately and we've reinvented out set to work with just the two of us.  The songs sound different obviously, but we're both kinda excited about how it's working out.  It's far more minimal, with a stronger relience of our singing and capitalizing on the subtlies of the music.

So, if you're intrigued, please come down to the Railway Club next saturday night, August 8th.  It's our label Boutique Empire's first anniversary party and the intrepid Sex With Strangers shall be headlining the festivities.  The lineup for the evening goes:

    Accost  (electronic chillout)

    Combine the Victorious (electronic duo)

    The Skinny (sketch comedy)

Sex With Strangers (electro dance rock)

    The Keeper (from Seattle)

It's been a glorious summer here in Vancouver, and here's hoping everything is just as good where you are!  Thanks for reading,

  • Disagreements: Released TODAY!

    Hello!

We're really happy to say that after almost eleven months of messing around, we have released our new ep "Disagreements" today.  It's up on iTunes as of around 8AM Nov 25th!

The songs are quite personal this time, as they reflect quite a bit of our lives over the past 15 months or so.  You might say the fist of the artwork is striking out at a couple people that have caused a lot of grief!  On the positive side we feel much better for letting these emotions out and creating something quite interesting as a by product.

We hope you can take the time to have a listen, I know we've got a few of the one's I consider the best on iLike, but the ep is meant to be listened to as a whole.  I guess I'm a bit of a sucker for the "album" as an art form.  (Perhaps if I wrote singles I say that) but it certainly seems as though Combine is an album type of group, and I think with our eclectic tastes put together we've managed to make some pretty great songs.  We're both extremely excited and proud of the song Please, but each song has its importance to us.

Hope you like 'em, and please let us know what you think.

    Cheers,

    Mark (& Isabelle)

  • New Song: Please

    Hello,

Today We've posted our best song to date.  It's called "Please" and was co-written with our friends from England, Ingrid Schroeder and Barry Flynn, whose voices you can hear in the breakdown and outro respectively.  It's a song of hope honestly, though it covers a lot of ground within its 4 minutes.

Its the final song on our new Disagreements ep, which will be available on Novemeber 25th, 2008.  Check iTunes or Amazon or which ever service you prefer to purchase or stream your music on.

Hope everyone takes a listen, really.  It's quite a good song, and I promise won't be a waste of your time.

Thanks for reading, and do take a listen to the song. Please.

    Cheers,

    Mark & Isabelle

  • Two New Songs

Hi - don't know if anyone reads these things on here, but we're pleased to say we're almost done our next ep.  In the process of finalizing the original five songs for the collection, if started to seem as though there was too much of a somber tone to the end of the bunch.  So we've come up with a segue to alter the mood a bit.  And the intro didn't seem appropriate for the "Disagreements" title so we've added a new little instrumental track called "Charmer" to the mix.  So now it's up to seven tracks and I think makes for a very solid listen.  A few surprises hopefully. even after all the rough mixes that have been posted along the way!

Alright, back to work, just wanted to say hi.  Please do the same if you read this, love to know if anyone is actually out there.  Cheers

  • Running later and later

Hey, just a little note to let anyone who may have been following along with us as we try to finish our ep that we're running a bit later.  We've just had a brilliant idea to ask a friend of our's in England to add a vocal part to our last song "Please" and I'm really hopeful that she'll do it.  The song is sounding massively different from the initial demo.  Much more operatic and classical.  Funny really.  I'm sure it's all to due with Bohemian Rhapsody being my favorite song for WAY too many years.

So I hope we'll have five out of the six tracks done by next week.  Plus finish three more tracks with Guilty About Girls.  Sure, easy!  Ha.   Okay, Thanks for reading.  Cheers,

  • New Song: Back In Style

    Hi,

Just a quick note today to let you know that we've just posted our latest song, "Back In Style" on this site and our myspace.  Hopefully a few of you will check it out.  It's a moodier song than our first two from the ep, but it build very nicely.  Please have a listen and let us know what you think!

    Cheers, have a great summer.

  • Progress report: EP coming along

In a strange move, we now have the front cover artwork finished BEFORE we have the songs recorded and mixed!  Thanks to the brilliance of Mr. Robert Edmonds, we now know what our ep will look like.  The songs are lining up nicely now, we've got the sound for this release worked out, and two songs are completed.  The newest to hit the finished pile is our track, "Decay."  This one was a long time coming, we started it back in March 2007, but after many months of listening, reworking, re-recording, remixing, editing, changined, rearranging, it seems to work now!  Very excited about this one, hope you have a listen and let us know what you think!  Cheers!!!!!
