With former members of Shadowlawn, drummer Ryan Day and guitarist Neal Beery, scrambling for replacements after Thomas Maxwell bailed and Ben Whitley went out of town for our very first show on July 5th, 2003, guitarist Ben Brinson and bassist David Page filled the roles as temporary replacements. We (Neal and Ryan) quickly came to the realization that this was a much better group of people to work with and, with them, we created much better results. We wrote up a brand-new 25-minute set in a matter of days and played the show in Shadowlawn's place, making Cypress a household name by the next morning. The band just got done recording a 5-song E.P. titled "Wide-Eyed Annie" with the help of legendary producer Michael Studard who has worked with artists such as Local Heroes, and Stud-Day. With the way the CD sounds (and the fact that it's only $3) the CD has gone Gold in the States, and there are hopes to have similar success in our Summer European Tour in 2004. With influences ranging from Bob Dylan, to O.A.R., and back to Led Zeppelin, Cypress brings something fresh and original to the Indie-Rock scene.
