I've been a Danny Chan fan since 1982. I'm an American-born Chinese living in Hawaii. I heard his song "Ripples" while shopping in Hong Kong that summer. I think I own almost every album he ever made. Still love his ballads...so meaningful and so beautiful. I deeply respected his musical talent; so rare in singers from Hong Kong nowadays. Yesterday, I just went to his memorial museum near Tai Shan, China. It took nearly 2 hours to get there by car. Located in his father's hometown, Si Jiu Jun. It was very hard to find this memorial. It is actually a preschool building that has his memorial in the top floor of the 3-story walk-up building. There were no signs to his memorial, we asked about 10 people on the street for directions. Very sad to see the condition of the memorial: the photos were fading. No air conditioning in the two rooms. Last date recorded by a visitor was 11/08, but the sign-in book was already full. I am saddened that he is slowly being forgotten as he has now passed away almost 16 years ago. Someone should try to restore the photos and create a better website for the memorial museum...it didn't even have a phone number on it. Does anyone else know about this memorial?
