I looked at my home page and thought it kind of lacked insight into my music and the band. My site has an identity crisis. I figure most people probably aren't the slightest bit interested but maybe for the sake of my family, and the select few that use my album as something more than a beer coaster, I thought I'd update you on a few things.
This Friday at the Vanguard I'll be joined by 3 new uber talented muso's. 2 are female. Talk about identity crisis'. The most alarming thing about the additional band members is not the fact that we haven't rehearsed yet, it's the fact that the current line up for Friday is mostly female. I'm not sexist but I was extremely worried that our rider might end up being Sav Blanc instead of Cab Cav and Tooheys New, so I had to beg Adrian Keating to even out the numbers and come down and play Violin. 3 guys and 3 girls. Not much for the ladies to look at but plenty for the lads. At least with Simon in Perth we might get to taste the Rider.
Adrian Keating is a freak. He plays in the Opera House, with super talented muso's, so I was chuffed when he said he would moonlight with me, and that he even likes the noises I make. Ness and I always laugh on stage at how quickly he picks things up. Like a kid spilling his marbles...that quick.
Jemma Abrahams, I met at a blues festival last year, and we were all taken back by here amazing talent on the guitar. Well that and the free sausage sizzle for artists at the festival. Some pay for peanuts, me for sausages. That doesn't sound right really does it? Anyway she jumped up last month at Bar Me and played 'Last Day in London' with us, and it was the highlight of the night. We'll according to most of my friends she was. I'd have to agree but then again I'm not going to tell you that my new song that I looped was the highlight am I?
Roz Chia, bass and multi-instrumentalist I met on Twitter. (Follow her, she's rather funny). No seriously Roz, has played with my regular lead guitarist Rupert Reid and made him look good, which for somebody so ugly is quite a feat. So I figured I throw her an even bigger challenge. Could she make me look good too? At least there might be some drinks left in our rider without our regular bass player Simon Struthers, and hey let's face she's a little more attractive than Strut. Sorry Strut but sometimes two big heads isn't better than one : )
So with a pretty new line up we'll be sticking to the album for most of Friday night, so hopefully you have brushed up on your words, cleaned off your dancing shoes (yes I saw some people dancing at my last gig...unbelievable), and are ready to Wish It All Away. If you got one or two requests not on the album then let me know. If you have even read this far. Tickets for the gig here.
