Side man turned singer/songwriter. Influenced by the alt. country sounds of Son Volt,Steve Earle, Whiskeytown, and the like. BIO // At the age of 11, Dave Keefer bought his first guitar for $10, a Crestline Telecaster copy that he played through a Montgomery Ward amp. After seeing his love for music, his parents surprised him the following Christmas. The obviously guitar-shaped package under the tree was more than he could handle. With pencil and paper in hand, he scratched over the raised lettering. The word “Fender” appeared. Still a month until Christmas, December seemed to last a lifetime. Dave has been playing guitar and writing songs ever since. As a long time sideman and self-described “lifer” he has finally stepped out on his own. Dave has hit his stride as a singer/songwriter with a collection of songs in the Americana vain that are both simple and honest. A style well suited to his voice and a very comfortable place for writing and performing. His sparse arrangements are sometimes dark: sometimes cautiously optimistic, but always emotional. “I’m really just writing songs for myself” says Dave, “but if someone else likes them that’s great too.” “ To move someone with a song is an awesome feeling because I know how much music has meant to me.”
