Severin the Wanderer:
"I guess we should have learned by now that David Byrne will excite, surprise or enthrall us almost as a commonplace, and that he will find beauty in unexpected places. When we saw him last year at the Bowl, his opening act was the Extra Action Marching Band, a 30-piece mongrel of striptease and Souza -- and more fun than a barrel of maquereaux. (oh, and the Arcade Fire was there too) God knows what possesed him to record Bizet in his wavering, uncertain warble. But he was clever enough, and artist enough, to recruit Rufus Wainwright, his assured, pitch-perfect polar opposite as a singer, as a counterpoint on this gorgeous piece. And it's their interplay that's most incredible here, a meeting of musical brilliances as intoxicating as a cosmopolitan. Check out this song from an unheralded album."
