D. Cole was born in the Bronx on January 12, 1986 D. Cole now owns two private homes in New York and has been with the love of his life for eleven years. D. Cole is also a proud father of their three daughters ages one, eight and eleven. Although life has recently been good to D. Cole, it has not always been. Early in D. Cole’s childhood his mother gave into an addiction to drugs and her struggles with a mental illness of Schizoprehenia. Despite this, D. Cole’s mother later gave birth to three more children making him the oldest of four. Due to their mother’s addiction the four were split up into the New York City foster care system. While growing up and up until today D. Cole has maintained distant but steady relationships with his siblings now, twenty-two, sixteen and twelve. D. Cole struggled during his educational career while living within the foster care system and later dropped out of high school in the tenth grade. D. Cole ran away from the foster care system at the age of seventeen and for one month lived his life on the streets of New York. Having to sleep many nights on street corners, go days without eating and taking showers at a friend’s home D. Cole’s life seemed to being heading nowhere fast. After maintaining this lifestyle for several months D. Cole eventually obtained jobs at both McDonalds and Burger King while delivering newspapers on the weekends. With the combined income of all three jobs D. Cole was able to afford to pay rent for his own room. D. Cole’s only support during this time was that of his grandmother. However, his grandmother passed away before she could witness any of her grandson’s achievements. After dealing with the grief of losing his grandmother, D. Cole decided to attend a GED program. At the age of nineteen, D. Cole completed the program and walked away proudly with his GED in hand. While working at McDonald’s D. Cole met a man named “Bowie” who introduced him to a computer and told him “You can do anything on a computer.” “Bowie” later purchased D. Cole a computer where he first learned how to use its graphic programs. While learning everyday, D. Cole managed to find his passion and later turn into a franchise. D. Cole decided to take the music and entertainment business by storm while living his personal quote, “I carry thirty-six ounces of cold metal with twenty-four shots per load and a one thousand meter range that will tear a man apart” D. Cole has received nationwide acclaim for his work behind the camera and within the Underground Hip Hop circuit. D. Cole first independently organized, produced, engineered and distributed over one hundred mix tapes featuring various underground artists within Manhattan and the Bronx. Later seeing the demand for unsigned artists willing to be promoted, D. Cole decided to take his talents to another level. Two years later D. Cole picked up a video camera and put out his first twenty-two volume DVD set titled “Spit or Go Home.” Single handedly recorded and edited by D. Cole himself, “Spit or Go Home” helped launched the careers of many indie artist throughout New York. “Spit or Go Home” independently sold sixty thousand units during its first launching. One year later a rapper by the name of “Borey Billz”, who premiered on “Spit or Go Home”, put the DVD into the hands of an owner of a bootleg record store that sold bootleg copies and from there “Spit or Go Home’s” product buzz soared. Six months later, a fellow camera man by the name of “Cliffy Barz” introduced D. Cole and “Spit or Go Home” to it’s first official retail location with hopes of earning revenue within the store’s business. However, the store’s owner informed D. Cole that “Spit or Go Home” could not be sold due to its initial volume not being released. One week later, D. Cole made the proper adjustments and “Spit or Go Home Volume I” was re-submitted to the store’s owner, who then approved the sale of the DVD. “Spit or Go Home Volume I” sold eight thousand copies within its first two months. Six months after witnessing the DVD’s success, D. Cole put out “Spit or Go Home Volume II” which sold four thousands units within its first four months. Two months after, D. Cole signed with Tyrell Blair of “Hood Life Movement DVD” and the two worked together to release “Spit or Go Home Volume III”. Combined with Blair’s prior experience within the underground DVD circuit, “Spit or Go Home Volume III” sold a mere eight hundred copies within its first seven months. D. Cole being disappointed in the numbers of “Spit or Go Home Volume III” and the professional DVD market going down decided to independently release a brand new DVD set entitled “Guilty by Affiliation”. The DVD still exposed underground rappers within New York, but on a more hard core street level. “Guilty by Affiliation” sold four thousand units within its first month of sales. One month after the release of “Guilty by Affiliation” D. Cole and Blair worked together again to put out “Guilty by Affiliation Volume II”. Three weeks later D. Cole filmed, edited and completed the graphics for the DVD. However, “Guilty by Affiliation Volume II” was never released. D. Cole discouraged by the recent poor sales and his latest DVD being put on the shelf, decided to quit work within the DVD circuit. However, D. Cole did not stop working; he put his focus on his graphic abilities and assisted fellow DVD companies in the releasing of their work. Six months later Ron Browz, who previously was on “Spit or Go Home Volume I” as one of the DVD’s main producers, informed D. Cole about the dance world and its potential business advantage. D. Cole decided to give the dance world a shot and began filming dancers within the New York area calling the DVD “Dance or Go Home.” Two months into the progression of “Dance or Go Home” D. Cole realized the financing required to take the DVD to its fullest potential. “Charlie Clips”, who featured on “Guilty by Affiliation Volume II,” introduced D. Cole to “Da Drizzle”, producer of the smash hit “Chicken Noodle Soup” and the two teamed up to release the only dance DVD in New York entitled “Dance or Go Home Volume I.” The DVD independently sold eight thousand copies within its first two months of sales. Months later with the help of “Swizz aka Mr. You Tube,” who appeared on “Dance or Go Home Volume I” sales soared and continued to sky rocket to an amazing sixteen thousand units. The demand for “Dance or Go Home” launched D. Cole’s first You Tube page, which has now received over three million views overall and an estimated ten thousand a day. PS .
