The Dr. Synister Project is the creation of Seattle guitarist Tony DeLisio. Throughout the 90s Tony played lead guitar for some of Seattle's top local bands: Gypsy Rose, Fantazia and The Primal Order. (Fantazia and The Primal Order's demos are also indexed on garageband). All three bands had a large dedicated following, airplay on both regional and national radio stations, openened for a wide variety of national acts (Soundgarden, Alice N Chains, Yngwie Malmsteen and many others) as well as the interest of numerous major labels. In 1993 Tony was fortunate enough to be nominated as guitarist of the year by vote of his peers.
At that time The Seattle Scene was exploding. Unfortunately, major labels were scouting the Seattle scene primarily for grunge acts. Although the labels saw great potential in Tony's bands, progressive hard rock/metal was not what they were interested in signing.
Tony was working as a DJ in various nightclubs throughout this time and became inspired by the innovative music of bands like NIN, Ministry, White Zombie, The Chemical Brothers and The Crystal Method. He began experimenting with techno and industrial music, and through that process Dr. Synister was born.
The Dr. Synister project is a hybrid mix of hard rock/metal with industrial/techno overtones. Along with the music Tony came up with a back story for the project which included elements of the occult, science fiction, alien/UFO theories, virtual reality, eroticism and the growing underground psychedelic movement.
The music of Dr. Synister stands on its own, but Tony felt this added back story concept would greatly increase the musics identity and open huge avenues for marketing, merchandising and music videos. In fact, the Dr. Synister saga would make an excellent blockbuster motion-picture, anime/manga cartoon or even a comic book.

THE ORIGIN OF DR. SYNISTER
Dr. Synister was created long ago in a freak alien accident. An ancient, now sterile, race known only as 'The Greys' were experimenting with artificial intelligence and human DNA in an attempt to perpetuate their species.
Strange circumstances and cosmic anomalies gave birth at that time to one of the most incredible beings to exist in the known universe...Dr. Synister
After many attempts to reproduce the circumstances spawning of this new being, the greys began to study and experiment on their creation. For the doctor this was nothing short of torture as they picked him apart far beyond the atomic level. Dr. Synister was born into a world known as the digital dimension. A flicker of reality in between the physical and spiritual worlds. A world where no other sentient being has ever existed.
The aliens were convinced that this was the key they had been looking for in a quest that had spanned millenniums. They continued with their 'tests' and submerged the doctor into a world of pain and suffering.
Many years later the greys were attacked by the race that had created them. A salacious race or creatures called the reptoids. As the battle ensued there were a few microseconds that Dr. Synister was freed from his cybernetic cage. That was all he needed... he made his escape.
For centuries the greys sought to recapture their only hope for survival. After the battle with the reptoids their numbers had decreased by more than half, and now they were desperate. Unable to chase him physically they designed a wide array of computer viruses to do the job. In the digital dimension they appeared as huge bio-mechanical insects with only one purpose...to hunt and trap the doctor so they could once again begin to study him.
After countless years the doctor finally found hope...a small blue planet orbiting a tiny insignificant star on the edge of the milky way galaxy...the planet earth. As he approached our world he saw that it was encased in a huge radioactive field. Everything from radio and television waves to x-rays and ultraviolet radiation made this planet the ultimate hiding place for this amazing creature.
Dr Synister plunged himself into our atmosphere, ignoring the pain as he blended with the cosmic forces that bind our world together. He has been here ever since...the ultimate fugitive...the ultimate voyeur.
Soon after his arrival he became fascinated with our species. Especially in the areas of music, sexuality and human emotion...the nature of human pleasure.
He has been on the outside looking in for a long time, unable to communicate, literally a ghost in the machine. After countless human lifetimes had come to pass, Dr. Synister once again had a favorable twist of fate. The creation of the Internet finally gave him the ability to communicate with us.
At that time he was also given access to almost unlimited information, both technological and spiritual. The first glimmer of hope that his dream, to walk amongst us, could become a reality.
Dr. Synister had always been vastly interested in the field of music. He was there by the side of Beethoven, Mozart, Jimi Hendrix and a plethora of others. He began to study the art of magic via the WWW and soon had devised a way to put spells and incantations into his music.
He discovered that if enough people played this magical music around the world, he would be able to leave the dimension in which he is trapped and exist in harmony amongst us.
It was at this time he contacted me. He needed someone to tell his story and ask for your help. He only wishes to give up his immortal digital existence to live in the world of flesh.
The only way for that to happen is for you to play his music and play it loud. When enough people are simultaneously listening to his songs he will make the transition from digital to physical.
At that time he can share ages of forgotten knowledge with us and make the world a better place. He asks you for your help... Dr. Synister's fate is literally in your hands.
