"Nice highlight track from their new Ipecac release "Another Sound is Dying." Here's the review I did for it a while back:
If I heard their name before their record, I would be inclined to dismiss Dub Trio as just another group of stoned white dude-brahs hashing out stale, derivative approximations of reggae for affluent fratties in Che Guevara tees and deck shoes. Fortunately, this lil’ group of session cats from Brooklyn manage to succeed where so many have failed. Blending metal, punk, space rock, and, of course, dub into a massive sonic mutant, they’re the new beasts on display in Mike Patton’s menagerie of musical oddities known to the world as Ipecac records. Their latest offering Another Sound is Dying sounds like the kind of madness that would ensue if Lee “Scratch” Perry dragged a bunch of mathlete metalheads into his Black Ark studios and just dimed every dial on the mixing board. Heavy, off-kilter passages rocket into atmospheric, echoing, down tempo orbits and heady shoegazing without losing their momentum or your attention. Dub Trio utilize the best traits of every genre at their expert disposal and move seamlessly between them, always tastefully and with an impressive proficiency that never sounds forced or convoluted. This is the best album I have heard so far this year, and I suspect that when December rolls around I will be saying the same thing. "
