Aug 26, 07:45 PMI just read this woman's autobiography and it's fantastic as was she. Arguably the greatest American Opera singer and absolutely the only one who could cross effortlessly over into pop and jazz and not sound like a fish out of water but rather like an expert artist at whatever milieu in which she was currently displaying that voice and unerring instinct. There is no other singer who was a phenomenon, a force of nature besides Garland and Gogi Grant above her.
