Award-winning and critically acclaimed pianist and composer Eric Scott Reed, a Philadelphia native, was born with a God-given gift to play the piano at age two, performing in public by age five, beginning formal lessons at age seven. After extensive training in his father's Baptist church, Philadelphia's Settlement Music School and the Colburn School in Los Angeles, Eric embarked upon a professional career that has taken him all over the world. His extensive credits include stints with Wynton Marsalis, Edwin Hawkins, Jessye Norman, Quincy Jones, Patti Labelle, Dianne Reeves and numerous others. As a strong advocate for young musicians, Eric taught at Juilliard and continues to perform master classes and lecture demonstrations on the history of music. Eric's artistic arsenal includes over 20 recordings as a leader, film scoring for the Eddie Murphy comedy "Life" and musical direction for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Currently, Eric is in residence with the Ebony Repertory Theatre of Los Angeles, serving as musical director of Regina Taylor's "Crowns."
