Fats always said "spontaneity is the key of life" and his bonhomie good cheer is evident in many of the preambles to his songs (such as the above) on many of his studio recording sessions - that is - if you know where to look.
This isn't the best CD, nor best recording of this song. There are so many BAD CD's out there with poor recording quality - that it can be daunting for Fats Waller newcomers to wade through all of what's available - but the above Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov quote is from the 2-CD set titled (His Rhythm, His Piano): "The Definitive Fats Waller - featuring Fats Waller and His Rhythm" (find it on amazon.com) - and there are many such asides with his energetic banter. If you're new to Fats, you'd want to get this one.
