Flat Earth Society consisted of 5 guys trying to accomplish one goal, making music that will move you. F.E.S prides itself on setting no limits on it's musical creativity, whether it be using the melody of West Coast style punk, or the hard breakdowns of East Coast hardcore. F.E.S. will always look to find a not so typical approach to a tried and true style of music.. . . . . . . . In January of 2000 F.E.S. released a 2 song CD simply titled "Demo 2000". Some 5 months later, a self titled 7 song studio CD was self released on our own label, Scorpion Records. Both CD’s received great reviews in print and web press. Both are also receiving airplay on US college radio and other stations throughout the world. Through some hard networking and a word of mouth buzz, to date, F.E.S. has landed itself on Twelve compilation CD’s, Two extreme skiing videos and a Video fanzine that featured North Jersey bands. All of which are for sale worldwide. We are slated to appear on a Lifetime tribute CD as well as another comp with Good Riddance. F.E.S. has also had a song featured on a television commercial for the WWF, had 5 songs in the regular rotation at the winter X-Games, played live on a local cable TV show, and has done live on air interviews on numerous college radio. Our songs "What Now" and “Friend” have reached #1 on MP3.com and garageband.com's punk charts. In 2002 after selling out of 2 pressings of the first CD, we decided to redo the artwork and re-release it with a new audio track and a mpeg video on the CD. The re-release finally found FES's CD in most records stores in NJ and other states such as, Arizona, Utah and Texas. 2003 also brought a deal to distro the CD in Russia. We’ve been touring the east coast from Mass to Florida since 2000. We just completed a full national tour of 11,000 miles in 31 days this past summer. We won a lot on the 2003 Warped Tour through Ernie Ball and played to a sold out crowd. 2004 we played Hell Fest at Rexplex in NJ! The band is sponsored by Dirtbag clothing. THE FLAT EARTH SOCIETY NAME: When searching for a name back in 98 we took tons of choices and began voting them in or out. Flat Earth Society was a late choice thrown in by Scott. When deciding on a name that would both sound cool and have meaning, Flat Earth Society seemed to be the obvious choice. It's most often recognized from the Bad Religion song on the Against The Grain cd. We figured that would be a bonus since we have similarities to BR. It's also known from the group headed by Thomas Dolby "The Flat Earth Society". There are also a select group who do actually believe the earth is flat. We do not fall into that category. We look at the Flat Earth Society name as a metaphor for today's society. When people believed the earth was flat everyone thought it to be fact. Today we look at them as fools. How will today's society look in another couple hundred years? We have people getting paid millions of dollars a year to play sports, while war veterans are sleeping and dying in our streets. There are still countries where women are treated as second class citizens and in some cased stoned in the street! We keep dogs and cats as pets, while we perform unspeakable tests on lab animals. People kill in the name of religion Every Day! So are we the "new" Flat Earth Society? Sadly enough, we think so........... FES died in 2005. But you never know what the future holds...
