Coming together in the hills of Faifax, Ca., GARNISH (the fancy trimmin's) is a combination of acoustic, funk, and mountain music driven by bass and drums, and sprinkled with vocal melody and lyrical food for thought. GARNISH consists of singer/songwriter/guitarist Jeremy Mendonca, percussionist Lee Bittner, Bassist Damian Erskine, and vocalist Danielle Levy. The musical storytelling foursome has been a long time in the making. Jer and Lee were united in 'The shack' in Chico, Ca. in the late 80's where their differing styles fused and planted the seeds of their expression; whereas Damian and Danielle, the most recent additions to the band, lend soul and technical genius to the band freeing up the music to sound the way it should. All four members of GARNISH were raised in and surrounded by a musical environment. Drummer, Lee Jr., was graced at an early age with lessons from his father, Lee Sr., who was the touring drummer for BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING CO. in the early 70's. Lee is quite a monster on the drum kit. Bassist, Damian, has been playing since the age of 6yrs. old; he attended Berklee College of Music and has since been involved in numerous projects in the U.S. and abroad. Music is definately in his genes, being the nephew of Peter Erskine the drummer of the pioneering jazz/rock fusion group WEATHER REPORT. Singer/songwriter/ guitarist, Jeremy, has been playing since his 10th year of life and was brought up with a constant exposure to soul, R and southern rock. His thoughtfull lyrics, amazing guitar virtuosity, and sultry voice are the heart of what GARNISH is. Back-up vocalist, Danielle, is also a Berklee graduate where she studied jazz vocals and has since been involved in countless performance projects along her way. Her female energy paired with an angelic voice has brought new dimensions to the band and attracted many new listeners. All four members of GARNISH have been performing in some way or another since they were children and professionally now for the past 10 years.
