In1995 Granny’s Favourite (or abbreviated: Granny's) was created by a few guys with a mind of their own and therefore the determination to make their own music. Today, the band has five members, each with a different taste in music. Guitar is the main ingredient in the music of Granny’s, but the influences are diverse. Electronic sounds and a Turkish saz are part of the sound as well. In combination with the different tastes in music of the band members this results in a musical melting pot. Although the music is hard to categorize, the press has been enthusiastic. For instance, a local newspaper based in Rotterdam even stated that: “ Darryl Ann and Granny’s Favourite played the stars out of the sky. ” Well, that may be a literally translated Dutch expression, but it is clear what it means. Summer 2003 gave birth to a new CD, titled: Girls, Cars and Artificial Light. The five songs on the cd were recorded in four days. Comparisons with other bands by listeners are: Radiohead, U2, The Doors, Zita Swoon and Coldplay.
