The Grayscale story begins with Douglas finding William through the murky soup of the Internet, and discovering that both the songwriting musicians shared both the same geography of Cleveland, Ohio, and a passion for alternative pop. They also found that they shared influences ranging from Coldplay, to Snow Patrol, to The Cure. They began collaborating and formed Grayscale in early 2005. They rapidly assembled a catalog of alterna-pop gems-in-the-rough that would become their debut album, "That Flawless Flashing Day."
Effortlessly fusing American folk with Britpop, their sound is contemporary, yet still captures a “classic alternative” vibe.
"That Flawless Flashing Day" was released by NYC indie label Sunset Records in Summer 2007 (www.sunsetrecordings.com). Their ballad “So Credulous I’m Blind” has since become a mainstay of Internet radio. “Flawless” is available in physical and digital format from all major online music stores.
Grayscale has finished work on their second album, titled “Haunted Hours.” The new Grayscale sound is sure to appeal to fans of modern acts like Snow Patrol and The Fray, as well as old school bands such as The Smiths, U2, and R.E.M.
“Haunted Hours” is slated for a worldwide release late in 2009.
