Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos

    Gusterrhoids!

We've got a major election coming up, so if you're not registered to vote, for the love of God let our band direct you to a place where you can do that. The deadline for voter registration is October 4th in many states.

And though we hadn't expected to play live again this year, we're going to be performing Tuesday October 7th at a fundraiser for Barack Obama at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn NY. The concert was put together by Brian's wife Megan and features an awesome line-up of bands and comedians. The order of performers is random and we're likely to play a 5 song acoustic set (with a few new songs in the mix too if we can write the lyrics by then).

    Bands on the bill:

    Andrew Bird
    Fiery Furnaces
    Guster (duh)
    Les Savy Fav
    Alina Simone
    Martin Bisi

    Comedians on the bill:

    Lizz Winstead
    Eugene Mirman
    John Roberts
    Heather Lawless
    Kumail Nanjiani
    Adira Amram

There's also a super special totally secret band that we can't list, and an "Obama Room" where you can watch the VP debate and sign up to volunteer. Tickets are $40 and all proceeds go to the Obama campaign. Music starts at 7:30 and goes until 12:30am.

Here's the myspace page for the event. Here's the Music Hall of Williamsburg page for the event. Here's where you can buy an "I Voted for Kodos" t-shirt.

If you live in in NYC, you can get tickets without paying the Ticketmaster surcharge here:

    Mercury Lounge Box Office
    217 E. Houston (corner of Ave A & Houston)
    NY, NY
    212-260-4700
    Hours: Mon.--Sat. Noon--7PM

Music Hall of Williamsburg Box Office
66 N. 6th St. (Btw Wythe and Kent)
    Brooklyn, NY
    718-486-5400

Look for the Gusters to hit the studio in the next month to begin recording 18 new songs!

Another child is born to a member of Guster

Ryan and Angela's daughter, Lionelle Rosalie Miller, arrived June 16th. The third (and final) Guster-girl of the year, Leo weighed 7 pounds and 14 ounces at birth. Her photo is up on the road journal, along with pictures of her friends Jolene Rosenworcel and Sloan Gardner.

Despite all the procreation, we've been putting the finishing touches on about 17 new songs this summer and we ought to begin recording them in a month. For those of you keeping score at home, we've moved from Reprise/Warner Brothers Records to Aware/Columbia Records. Expect a new album in early oh nine.

And those of you hoping to stalk Scooter this summer can find him traveling the world greening tours by Jack Johnson and DMB for Adam's environmental non-profit, REVERB. Our merch-girl, Amy, is doing the same thing on tours by John Mayer, Maroon 5 & Counting Crows. Visit this link, where Adam becomes an official "EarthKeeper," to check out what Scooter and Amy have been up to, sign up to volunteer, and see free music.

Until the next newsworthy Guster event, whenever and whatever that may be....

    More Offspring

We've got another baby girl to welcome into the ever-expanding Guster family. Sloan Sullivan Gardner, the sleeping/pooping/burping by-product of Adam and his wife Lauren's love, joined us on May 16th. There's a beautiful photo up on the road journal, which is really just a baby announcement journal this year. We've got another Guster baby due this month.

Meanwhile we've found time to write a big batch of new songs and we can't wait to record them. This summer? We'll have to see how it all balances with the newcomers. But we expect to have an album finished this year and a tour ready to go in early oh nine.

Green News & Wetlands Preserved Documentary

Adam talks to the Sundance Channel about green touring. "Big Ideas for a Small Planet" is a documentary series presenting the forward-thinking designers, products and processes that are at the forefront of a new green world. Each episode revolves around a different green theme as it spotlights three specific innovators or innovations that have the potential to transform our everyday lives. The individuals profiled range from scientists to fashion and product designers, and from entrepreneurs to first-time inventors. The series also features a cast of recurring expert commentators, including award-winning scientist, geneticist, and author, Dr. David Suzuki, GOOD Magazine Founder Ben Goldhirsh, Deputy Commissioner for Capital Project for the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation Amy Freitag and former Talking Heads frontman and bicycle advocate David Byrne who all provide the big-picture context to each week's stories. Season 1 of "Big Ideas for a Small Planet" received the 2007 Environmental Media Award for Best Documentary.
