Heinz Winckler is a South African Pop Artist. He was the first winner of the South African Idol competition (equivalent of American Idol) and came fourth in World Idol where he competed against Kelly Clarckson and Will Young.
Heinz has since released one double platinum selling single (Once In A Lifetime) and 3 hit studio albums (One Step Closer 2002, Come Alive 2004, Moment of Truth 2006) and a live DvD (Heinz Live). These were all released through Sony BMG Africa. Heinz is currently unsigned.
In April 2007 Heinz landed the coveted role of Roger Davis in the USA national tour of the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway musical, RENT, and is still on tour till 29 June 2008.
