  • Hello there!

I'd like to thank all the new fans who've recently stumbled upon my humble abode.  Hope you like, and enjoy your stay! More to come soon! :D

  • In a contest! Please vote!

My song, Mythical Haters, which people really really liked when I uploaded it to the RPM Challenge earlier this year, was accepted into my local free rag's first annual songwriting competition.  I'm up against the major heavy hitters in this area, which makes me both proud and horrified. :O

Anyway, I'd love a vote from any of you in this contest.  There are some real standout tracks in this thing, so winning it may be an iffy proposition at best, but it never hurts to ask! :D

Cast your ballot at the following link:

    Thanks, everyone!

  • Honorable Mention

This is a repost from my "News" blog on my website.  It's late.  I'll reedit to do something more creative tomorrow.  In the meantime, drinks are on the house.  Belly up to what you want while we celebrate! Thanks peeps!

  • A classy kind of blah: Introducing my new website

It's been several weeks in the making; attempts to make simple HTML work, using a minimum of Flash and some inadvertent strides into CSS land, but here you go:

    http://www.helensventitsky.com.

Everything's in an IFrame. I wanted to make everything as simple and maneuverable as possible. The design as it is should make it easy for me to add on a bit here and there, and I'll probably get into trouble for the tag line in the bottom ("Lyrical sharpshooter"? What am I? A rapper? Still, it was late, you know?)

Feel free to poke around, share your thoughts, etc.

  • Singles available for downloading

    Hey all,

I have two free downloads available from my latest CD, Monochrome In Technicolor, for you to access and (hopefully) enjoy. These are the two official "singles".

    Incident At Motel 6

    Withdrawal Symptoms

I've had both of these songs described as electronica-based folk tunes (though you can actually dance to Withdrawal Symptoms). If you like what you are hearing, you can investigate more by clicking on the image of the CD for view, preview and purchase.

Thanks for the love, and comments, as always, are appreciated.

  • I've Got a small favor to ask of any and all random passersby

Check my Myspace blog for details.  Thanks much!

  • A (Sort of) Music Video

I've been following the Twitterings of "BuckHollywood" lately, and today, he informed his followers of one of YouTube's Featured Videos of the day - a young man daring users to describe their life in 6 six words as it's happening right now.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOJO2wWtaF8

Even though I'm a bit old/not emo enough to do this thing, I thought it was a rather cool meme, and I thought I'd try it myself.   So, with apologies to Bob Dylan...

This will probably be the closest thing I will get to a music video (or maybe not).  It seems that I may have missed the concept, and since the video is a rather blatant attempt at promoting my CD (rather obviously at the end), the person to whom I'm responding will probably kick my efforts to the curb.   But still, I thought it was a good try and it only took me an hour to do.

    Thoughts?

  • Full CD now available in .zip for download

    Hey all!

Until the hardcopy comes out (should be late April) the new CD, Monochrome In Technicolor, can also be downloaded from the official website.

    Official Album Download Page

Recorded in February as part of the RPM Challenge, this lo-fi yet lush masterpiece currently comes in the form of 9 fully mastered, high-quality 128 kbps MP3s, a 12 page PDF of album artwork and lyrics, and a .jpg of the album cover, for associating with the Mp3s when played on media players such as Winamp and Itunes. All package within a convenient .zip file.

Yes, I've set it up as donationware; while a tip would be appreciated, it isn't, necessary.

As stated download will expire upon the hard release in late April. So don't miss this opportunity to hear the CD for free (or a small donation).

    Thank you for your support.

  • Tracks from the New CD now available online!

    Hey all!

All the songs from my upcoming CD release Monochrome in Technicolor are now available online! You can preview a few of them here, but you can download either one, a few or ALL of the tracks from my soundclick music page. If you would like them all in one big fat zip file with art and everything, that will be coming later this week!

In the meantime, feel free to listen, comment, and, as Michael Buckley says, rate 'em even if you hate 'em. :)

    But I hope you enjoy...

  • Now on Ilike...

    Hello all,

As many of you do (don't deny it, you do!), I did a vanity search on Google, and found that, somehow, someway, iLike created a profile for me by default.  Huh?

Anyway, I was able to claim it, and here I am moving into my already built home.

I'm also on Facebook, but I have two profiles there, since I have one that was prebuilt using iLike, and I have another one for friends that I built myself.

Anyway, it just so happens that I will be releasing a CD fairly soon.  Several of the tunes from said CD are can be previewed in the Song area.  Oh, and if you like what you hear, PLEASE add me to your iLike list.  I will do my best to make more. :)
