The success of iiO is a remarkable one: top of the British pop charts, top of the charts worldwide – and, to conclude a successful ride of releases off their first album “Poetica”, “Is It Love” skyrocketed to NUMBER ONE in the US Billboard charts. But first, let’s go back, back to the origins of iiO, before they were the favorite record in many a DJ’s bag. It was 2001, when NYC-based dance music duo iiO ripped the seams of the dance scenes jeans with the release of its chart-topping single, “Rapture.” A heady fusion of house and pop buttressed by an infectious disco-driven bass line, the sing-along party anthem immediately caused a stir on dance floors from Ibiza to London. Yet despite releasing the successful follow-up single, “At The End” in 2002, iiO mysteriously retreated into a self-imposed hiatus almost as suddenly as it had emerged on the scene. But, four years after its dazzling debut and a few cult-status single releases in between, the group has finally resurfaced with the release of its hotly anticipated debut CD, Poetica. Succeeded by the single “Is It Love,” Poetica is chock-full of thirteen gems that are not only both accessible and progressive, but also run the gamut from ambient and reggae-tinged to break-pop and trance. The disc’s remarkably versatile sounds reflect iiO’s commitment to distinguish itself within the dance music genre by expertly coalescing electronica and poetry; hence the name Poetica. The release of “Reconstruction Time: The Best Of iiO Remixed”, perfectly captures the vibe and sound that helped propel iiO to the forefront of the dance world with all of its wonderful remixes. This once in a lifetime release is full of goodies and surprises. While the songs on Poetica were dance-pop songs of the highest caliber, aimed at a broader audience, iiO’s intention has always been to release them remixed and bundled on one release. And since they were not only remixed, but also reconstructed, it was decided to stick with the working title and call the album “Reconstruction Time – The Best Of iiO Remixed.” iiO’s latest release “Rapture Reconstruction – Platinum Edition” is set to continue this incredible run up worldwide charts. The incredible remixes of “Rapture” that has made iiO a household name in clubs and on radios across the globe are all here together for the first time. This disk contains the re-worked and re-recorded track that set it all off for iiO with two entirely different versions of über remixer Starkillers, Friscia & Lamboy Hardware & Orue, and of course Made Record’s secret weapon - The Lametta Anthologies.
