J-Mill, a moniker that stands for Jamaal Makin It Livin Large, has been rapping since middle school. "I always felt a connection to the world thru music." it wasn't until the 8th and 9th grade he realized he could be a force in the music industry. What started as writing rhymes at home in his room turned to picking up the mic and ripping crowds in his home town. "All the cats around my way would always put the buzz out this kid got flow, my brother was known in the streetz so they would always refer to me as Ro's lil brother." J-Mill's boys around the way would always tell him he should do something with his music. After graduating high school J-Mill decided to pursue his music career on a full-time basis. "After I realized I wasn't goin to the league for playin ball I knew I needed to direct my focus to my first love, music." He sent numerous demo packages to labels and passed out countless amounts of cds. And would frequently visit New York just to try and get his demo to somebody. "We've been to Shady Records, Murder Inc, Universal, Rocafella, Def Jam, Bad Boy, all the big ones up top." It wasn't until he signed with a independent label in Baltimore that he felt he got his first big break. "I was young in the game and happy to just be signed, that situation could've turned real ugly for us if the label would have took off, mainly because we didn't have our business straight at the time." From there J-Mill left the label and began doing shows and opening up for countless artists coming in and around the Metro Area. Trina, Shyne, Ludacris, and Black Rob are just a few of the major acts J-Mill has opened up for. After the label falling apart and then a fallen out between one of his managers J-Mill stepped away from the music scene. "Its a lota bull sh*t involved in this game, and at the time I was easily persuaded by whateva a ni**a told me. Its always someone saying they can do this or they can do that then when its time to show and prove, they disappear. It wasn't in my nature to see shit for what it is, back then." 2006 with a new book (The Official How To Rap Manual www.how2rap.com) on his hands and a new label Streetz Certified Records. J-Mill is back and hungrier than ever. Streetz Certified came to be by J-Mill, Al G.(child hood friend) and Big Ro, who has been J-Mill's longtime manager from jump, decided "the game is wide open right now" and "instead of goin to the labels" they wanted to bring the labels to them. J-Mill is no stranger to hard work. He knows and understands the power of a dollar and how hard it is to make it. "When my homie came home from a lil 2 year vacation he kept egging me on, we need to do this shit ourself, he was having a lot of legal problems back then so he didn't get a chance to see me do my thing as much then, so after we mapped it out and decided to do it we holla'd at Ro and the rest is what you see now, J-Mill, Streetz Certified." And with his counter parts backing him J-Mill and the rest of the Streetz Certified Clique is ready to conquer the industry.
