"The brilliant Jake Flowers and ‘Stalker’... I think you'll agree, the time is right!"
Loz, Specialist Producer, Kerrang! Radio
Born and raised in the breathtaking wilderness of the South Shropshire hills and a graduate in Philosophy and Literature, it is clear that the songs of Jake Flowers stem from quite a different place from that of many of today’s singer/songwriters. Songs of murderous lust and corrupted innocence sit comfortably alongside tales of love, regret and heartbreak, and a song about a 100 year old rooster.
"One of the best songs we've ever had, it's just unbelievable. It's so good."
BBC Radio Shropshire
Jake Flowers played last year's The Green Man Festival and A Fistful of Twisted Folk, went on tour around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland in the Spring of 2007 and has even performed one of his songs with the English Symphony Orchestra at this year's West Midlands Summer Symphony (after an orchestral arrangement was written by a member of the ESO).
"I was aware of Jake Flowers before I heard his recent material with The Carol-Anne Showband, but this little demo CD is bloody brilliant. Three songs, just under eight minutes - a little bundle of joy."

After playing a string of gigs together at the end of June 2007, Jake Flowers led The Carol-Anne Showband into the Magic Garden. The songs recorded were finished the day before The Carol-Anne Showband headed off to busk around France for the Summer. Catch Jake Flowers playing solo acoustic shows this August and September before once again teaming up with The Carol-Anne Showband when the leaves begin to fall from the trees...
"Talk about atmosphere? This is stunningly effective. I could happily sit and listen to this either in my lounge or in a club, however I would certainly prefer the latter, because it would offer me an opportunity to meet and greet the makers of this pot of gold."
Review of 'Annabel' by Living Atheist (www.myspace.com/livingatheist)
Hailing from Sheffield, The Carol-Anne Showband provide the perfect counterpoint and accompaniment to Jake Flowers' brand of rural songwriting. The kind of band that can have you dancing holes in your shoes with one song and tasting a tear in your beer with the next.
And so to the man at the desk… Gavin Monaghan, having previously worked with acts as different as The Twang, Kings of Leon and Scott Matthews, was the perfect choice to encourage and capture the infectious atmosphere and spontaneity that courses through every Jake Flowers and The Carol-Anne Showband performance... and now all those involved hope you dig it.
"An unadulterated pleasure from start to end."
