Welcome to JavaMusiK - a coffeehouse for your spirit... The JavaMusiK Label is proud to present pianist/composer Jeffrey van D - George Winston meets Elton John. His music has been described as "a blending of classical, jazz and rock influences smoothed over with a peaceful touch of soul." Bending Chords has been the perfect followup release for JavaMusiK - featuring an elegant foundation supporting a new blend of instrumentation and genres, while maintaining the signature sound which defined JavaMusiK the first time around. One listen to Synyrgyze! will highlight the general spirit driving this awesome release. With piano-based originals and a featured arrangement of Simple Gifts, the debut cd Ascend showcases an exciting, yet relaxing form of musicianship. Van Devender's genuine style shines with each musical offering on Ascend. If you are looking for a cd which will lift your spirits while maintaining an atmosphere of elegence, give JavaMusiK a try.
History:
Ascend was released on the JavaMusiK Label in 1998 followed by Bending Chords in late 2002. Ascend features music pulled from close to 20 years worth of compositions, while Bending Chords stretches the initial boundaries to a more refined effort. As you listen to the music on Ascend and Bending Chords, you may hear influences which have inspired this music over the years. Elton John clearly stands out prominently, due to the fact that his music is what kept this musician from totally abandoning piano lessons as a child. As time went on, other pianists began to catch the ear of this musician, eventually weaving their way into the fabric of his playing style. Growing up in Iowa, band played a big part of Jeff's life. His father was his junior high band director and his mother was his church choir director. It was this strong family tie to music which laid the foundation for him to continue his musical journey today. Jeffrey van D - aka Jeff Van Devender is currently a pianist for an Aspen 5 Star Hotel, as well as a music teacher in western Colorado and church pianist in 2 churches. His followup cd 'Bending Chords' has recently been released to critical and listener aclaim, showcasing a broadened diversification in the javamusical journey.
