JIMENA - Biography - The attractive, talented and versatile singer-songwriter Jimena, is embarking upon a new chapter in her musical career. Originally from Mexico City, Jimena has received a very broad artistic education. She started her vocal training at the age of 14, studying classical singing technique. She also studied performance technique for six years, and by the age of 16 she had already launched herself on the artistic scene. From a very young age, wearing her mother’s high heels and with the obligatory hairbrush for a microphone, Jimena emulated her mother who sang ranchero (Mexican country) songs at the Plaza Garibaldi and the Teatro Blanquita. Practically raised on stage and behind the scenes, this beautiful and talented singer-songwriter had her destiny mapped out. In June 2001, Jimena was signed to Crescent Moon Records, record label co-owned by Emilio Estefan and Sony Music. Her first album was Jimena, which included 10 songs, seven of which she wrote. The single Maldita ignorancia was released in three versions, norteña, ranchera and cumbia. The singles No te vayas, Aunque tu no quieras, Y llegaste tú were later released. Jimena has been well received, having been given the title of the "Latina Celine Dion" by many. She has worked with and trained with Eugenia Sutti, Patrician Kings Spíndola, Luis Felipe Tovar, Savior Sánchez, and Natalia Travenaccompanied. In 2003 she signed an additional contract with Univision Music. Her second album, En Soledad was also produced by Emilio Estefan. She has been nominated for several awards, including Premios Lo Nuestro in 2004 for Artista Revelación and in 2006 for Singer of the Year, sharing the nomination alogside Paulina Rubio, Laura Pausini and Julieta Venegas. She has performed in numerous important venues, including the Madison Square Garden, Miami Sand, Staples Center in Los Angeles. She was a special guest in the 2005, having been invited by president George W. Bush to perform in the White House. The new album, entitled “Volar Sin Alas”, is her second release under the Univision Records label. The album was released on August 22, 2006. Produced once again by Emilio Estefan Jr. and comprised of tracks with a romantic and also rhythmic flavor, this new production has a bolder and fresher sound with more energy and positivity, combined with the romantic sensitivity of a pop ballad, which cannot fail to strike a chord with the public. In that year she was invited by Carmen Salinas to perform in “Aventurera” the Mexican Comedy that played in Broadway, with an incredible success an acceptance with the people. In 2007 Jimena was invited by King of regueton “Don Omar” to perform as the main Heroin on his English crossover video “Calm my nerves” and at the same time she collaborated with Icons of Mexican Regional music, Group “ Tucanes de Tijuana” in another video as well. Both having excellent results. Natural, simple and wholesome, Jimena presents herself to the world with humility and with the contagious energy of a young person who still has a lot of talent to share. Recibió clases de opera y solfeo con Eugenia Sutti, en actuación por reconocidos actores como Patricia Reyes Spíndola, Luis Felipe Tovar, Salvador Sánchez, Natalia Traven y Fabián Corres, y en sus discos acompañada de Randy Barlow, Archie Peña, Joel Somillán y los hermanos Ricardo y Alberto Gaitan. En el 2003 marca el comienzo de su segundo álbum titulado “En Soledad” con diez temas, de los cuales ocho son de su inspiración y con la producción una vez más por Emilio Estefan, editado bajo el sello de Univision Music. “En Soledad” es un disco de corte romántico, balada pop y cumbia rítmica, que incluye un dueto con los Huracanes del Norte y la colaboración especial de Gloria Estefan, quien junto con la mexicana escribieron juntas la canción “Te esperare”. “En Soledad” es una muestra de fidelidad a su obra, es un disco en donde entrega al interpretar sus melodías el corazón y el alma. Jimena compone sin dejar de explorar diferentes géneros desde el pop hasta canciones con raíces mexicanas. Sus canciones han llegado a mantenerse en los primeros lugares de las listas Billboard por varias semanas, así como importantes nominaciones en los Premios Lo Nuestro en el 2004 como Artista Revelación y en el 2006, en la categoría como Cantante del Año en donde compartió la terna con Paulina Rubio, Laura Pausini y Julieta Venegas. Jimena se declara una admiradora de todos los ritmos así como de figuras del espectáculo destacando Luis Miguel, Rocío Dúrcal , Celin Dion, Marco Antonio Soliz, Juan Gabriel, Ricardo Arjona, Alejandro Sanz, Intocable, Vicente y Alejandro Fernández. Su talento la ha llevado a pisar importantes foros nacionales e internacionales, destacando el Allstate Arena de Chicago, invitada especial en el 2004 por el presidente George W. Bus en la Casa Blanca, el Madison Square Garden, Miami Arena, Staples Center en los Angeles, el Teatro Aladino en las Vegas y en el Estadio Teodoro Mariscal en Sinaloa con el grupo Recodo, donde rompió record de asistencia al reunir a más de 15 mil personas.
