Jeffrey Z:
"The movie "Body Heat" my not entirely hold up—history has been kinder to the films it borrows from, like "Double Indemnity"—but the John Barry score remains as poignantly beautiful as the day it was written. This haunting, feels-like-you've-heard-it-all-your-life theme adds depth, complexity, and richness to the characters and their narrative. It brings tragic grandeur to what might have been a mere exercise in clever script writing. Even the dreaded "smooth jazz" elements work for it. If it doesn't quite reach the lyric heights of Nino Rota's score for "The Godfather," well, what does? Great music."
