ONE WAY ROAD
Lyrics by JOHN BUTLER, 2009
They come they take
Its never enough because they cant relate
To the real world
Thinking that the oyster is just for the pearl
They start those wars
They want to own the land sea and all the stars
And right those wrongs
They change their history with their poison forked tongues.
All right, whos they?
A Maybe its the government of today
Or B for the big business man who thinks the whole world revolves around him
Or C for the corrupt official for A and B he be the man in the middle
Or D for discoverer for Cook and Columbus and the pirate plunderers.
Doesnt mean I aint got no fight now just because I dont got a gun
The lyrical is heavier than lead and this guitar is my canon
Just like my Martin and Mahatma Im gonna love Im gonna over come
Maybe its E for all of the above but I dont want to be
Wrong way going down the one-way road wrong way going down the one-way road
Wrong way going down the one-way road gonna turn it all around gonna back it on up
Wrong way going down the one-way road wrong way going on a one-way road
Wrong way going down the one-way road gonna turn it all around gonna back it on up
These men who they say we should follow
BUT we cant follow men if their hearts are hollow and
Mmmm yes how can we respect puppet regimes we do not elect?
Straight up straight up like Pinocchio and every time they lie man the fire just grows so
Nows time to be part of the solution raise your fist if you believe in revolution
Doesnt mean I aint got no fight now just because I dont got a gun
The lyrical is heavier than lead and this guitar is my canon
Just like my Martin and Mahatma Im gonna love Im gonna over come
Maybe its E for all of the above but I dont want to be....
Living in a pantomime living in a fantasy
I dont want to be dont want to be I dont want to be dont want to be no
Living in a pantomime living in a fantasy
I dont want to be dont want to be I dont want to be dont want to be...
Wrong way going down the one-way road wrong way going down the one-way road
Wrong way going down the one-way road gonna turn it all around gonna back it on up
Wrong way going down the one-way road wrong way going on a one-way road
Wrong way going down the one-way road gonna turn it all around gonna back it on up
A video blog from JB's iphone from a recent visit to Nicky's adopted Jamaican family.
Soundtrack is a rough mix from a new song called 'I'm Ready' which will be the b-side on the 'One Way Road' single - the first new song from the upcoming album due 2010.
The first 3 fan questions answered by John Butler.
- What's the deal with your nails?
- What's the best concert experience you've had?
- What makes you decide to play/record some songs and others not?
JB talks about the World Peace & Non-Violence effort at Bondi in October.
The World March will begin in New Zealand on October 2, 2009, the anniversary of Gandhis birth, declared the International Day of Nonviolence by the United Nations. It will conclude in the Andes Mountains (Punta de Vacas, Aconcagua, Argentina) on January 2, 2010. The March will last 90 days, three long months of travel. It will pass through all climates and seasons, from the hot summer of the tropics and the deserts, to the winter of Siberia. The American and Asian stages will be the longest, both almost a month. A permanent base of a hundred people of different nationalities will complete the journey.

Six more prominent Australians trace their family trees in a second series of the hit TV genealogy program Who do you think you are? on SBS One. Sunday November 1 @ 7.30pm - John Butler. John Butler hopes to find poets, musicians and revolutionaries in his past. He traces the Butler name through generations of hardship to a matriarch who sang for her survival and traces his Bulgarian ancestry to an ancestor caught up in a violent revolt.
