I started out working in a lot of different bands, writing, singing, and playing guitars. The lack of motivation and creativity in a lot of these bands is what made me decide to go solo. I started out listening to a lot of rock/pop-punk bands like Angels and Airwaves and Plus-44, but then found a real passion for indie-electronica type groups such as The Postal Service and Hellogoodbye. Even heavier synth groups such as Shiny Toy Guns and The Anix had a great deal of influence on my music. I wanted to create a new genre of music, in a sense...one that took the popular styles and catchy lyrics of emo/alternative rock groups and threw it together with powerpop/electronica styles and sounds. After over a year of writing new material for this sound, I produced my debut album, "Beautiful Disaster" in August of 2007. This album is now on iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, Napster and more. I am currently writing my second album, which still does not have a name.
John Carter is the shit. I only wish I knew who he was is real life so he could teach me the ways...

Although a lot of the songs in here are under the artist name "John Carter", only "Satellite" (so far) is actually by me. I'm working on getting this sorted out, but John Carter is a pretty popular name...I may have to come up with a new artist name. In the meantime...enjoy my music and whoever these other "John Carter" guys are.
